Seven gamedays remain. Six places up for grabs. Five more matches to predict. It’s all heating up in the LEC as teams fight for playoff spots and all ten are still in with a chance.

Week six has already provided its fair share of upsets, excitement, and G2 stomps, but heading into day two it’s all still to play for. A two-win gap at the top of the table has been opened up as a result of Fnatic’s loss to the rookies at Misfits Gaming and G2 look set to lock in their number one seed in the next few weeks. As for the remaining playoff places, they’re all up for grabs with every team (including Excel) capable of finishing in the top six.

More from League of Legends

The second day of games involves two top half clashes, two bottom half clashes, and SK vs. G2. It’s an opportunity for the likes of Fnatic and Splyce to widen their lead over the Origen and Schalke and get one step closer to securing 2nd and 3rd for themselves. On the other side of the table, Excel, Misfits, Rogue, and Vitality all face off and battle it out for the final playoff qualification spot. So, who’s going to come out on top in the final five games of week six? Here are our predictions:

Team Vitality vs. Rogue

Day one results:
Team Vitality 0 – 1 Splyce
Rogue 0 – 1 Excel Esports

The first game of the day could decide who heads into the final three weeks of the Summer Split in sixth and primed to secure the final playoff spot. Vitality, a team that started slow but are finally showing the sort of form they impressed with in spring, face off against Rogue, a much-improved roster from earlier in the season but still haven’t got the edge over the teams around them.

Splyce got the win over Vitality on day one, but it was much closer than you might expect for a 3rd vs. 6th clash, particularly when you consider Splyce’s recent form. Vitality once again proved that they’re capable of winning teamfights in the mid game and looked set to pick up their fifth win of the Summer Split but failed to close out the game due to poor decision making. As for Rogue, they gifted Excel their second win of the summer and wasted a chance to go ahead of their friends at joint sixth, a worry if they want to reach playoffs.

On one hand, both of these teams have shown promise and signs that they are worthy of a playoff spot throughout the Summer Split so far. On the other hand, they’re both pretty awful when it comes to consistently taking down the teams around them. You could flip a coin when it comes to predicting this match-up, but ultimately it should come down to the disparity in the jungle. Rogue’s Inspired is a tier above Vitality’s Mowgli at the moment and his early game pressure should be enough to see Rogue through.

Excel Esports vs. Misfits Gaming

Day one results:
Excel Esports 1 – 0 Rogue
Misfits Gaming 1 – 0 Fnatic

Excel’s climb to playoffs has started as they took down Rogue and are looking to secure a 9-9 Summer Split after such a disappointing start. Misfits are looking to do the same; the rookies were completely written off after the shock roster change but two wins in three has shown that they’re a threatening team and look like one of the most likely to reach playoffs as it stands.

Due to the uncertain nature of the new Misfits line-up, it’s hard to accurately predict a result between these two sides. Excel’s early game is amongst the best in the LEC at the moment, but Misfits’ lack of expectations means they’re playing without pressure and so are taking every teamfight and winning most.

It’s another 50/50, but logic leans towards Excel Esports. Right now you’d have to argue that Misfits’ two wins have been flukes and they really shouldn’t be challenging in the LEC as academy players, and if they do go on to reach playoffs questions must be asked about the level of quality in Europe. Excel should build a gold lead in the early game and, if they want any chance of breaking into the top six, need to hold onto that gold lead and close cleanly.

Prediction: Excel Esports Win
