League of Legends: LEC Week 8 Day 1 predictions
The penultimate week of the LEC is upon us with ten more important match-ups that could have a huge bearing on the final standings. Who will take the opportunity to climb up the table in Week 8? Here are our predictions.
In Week 7 most of our attention was drawn to a disappointing Match of the Week between Fnatic and G2 Esports, and a Garen pick that doesn’t even deserve reflection. This week, however, there are scores to be settled and places to be claimed.

1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, and 6th are all up for grabs in the final two weeks of the LEC regular season, with all ten teams still in the running for playoffs. While G2’s grip on the top seed may be tight, anything can happen in the final four games of the season. As for W8D1, here’s our thoughts on how the match-ups will pan out.
Schalke 04 (8 – 6) vs. Misfits Gaming (4 – 10)
Although Schalke were somewhat underwhelming in both Week 7 games against Fnatic and Origen, their work earlier in the split has all but confirmed their place amongst the top six heading into the LEC playoffs.
Misfits, on the other hand, have enjoyed their new roster change bump, but have settled back down towards the bottom of the table and will be making experimental changes (Hans Sama and Doss) in Week 8 to add some excitement to a disappointing end to the 2019 season.
All in all, the new Misfits team shouldn’t have enough to take down a clean, calculated Schalke roster who have looked promising before the playoffs in two weeks.
Prediction – Schalke 04 Win
SK Gaming (4 – 10) vs. Team Vitality (7 – 7)
SK Gaming stemmed the bleeding of their freefall to the foot of the standings last week as they took down Misfits Gaming for their first win in eight games.
As for Vitality, they’re currently loving life in the LEC and are flying up the standings, hoping to secure a spot in playoffs as soon as possible. They’re currently on a three-game winning streak, the longest of any team in the LEC at the moment.
Despite a tidy win in Week 7, SK Gaming are by no means back to their best, and almost definitely don’t have enough to derail the unstoppable Vitality hype train. Mowgli and Jiizuke should link up in the centre of the map to overwhelm Selfmade and Jenax, while Cabochard does Cabochard-things in the top lane to build an early gold lead and comprehensively take down the LEC’s joint-8th place team.
Prediction – Team Vitality Win
