Support

Tristan “Zeyzal” Stidam vs. Vincent “Biofrost” Wang

Two of the top three supports in the LCS square off in maybe the most interesting match-up no one is talking about. For two players paired with such questionable lane partners, it’s been fascinating to watch how both Zeyzal and Biofrost have managed to thrive.

First up, we have Biofrost who is probably one of the strongest laning supports in the league. His 30 gold and 63 XP advantages at 10 minutes aren’t impressive in comparison to his contemporaries. But considering his partner is such a substandard laner, the fact that he individually can still come out ahead is quite impressive.

Conversely, Zeyzal doesn’t demonstrate his strength through his laning but his team fighting. You might argue that his laning stats are held down by Sneaky, who is one of the worst laners in the LCS and far below the caliber of Stixxay this split. However, Zeyzal has not been able to withstand the pressure to create advantages like Biofrost.

Despite these poor laning numbers, however, Zeyzal has managed to amass the highest aGPM and aDPM of any support, most of this coming after the laning phase. That’s not easy on defensive champions like Braum and Taric (along with Lux, his three most played) and really shows his proficiency in positioning considering he has the second-fewest deaths per game of any support in the LCS.

As to which one I give the edge to, that would be Biofrost. Most people question who the MVP of CLG is, but I’ve firmly believed it has been Biofrost all split.
