League of Legends: why the new Star Guardian skins are among the best in the game

Rejoice! A fan-favorite skin line is coming back to League of Legends with a brand-new set of Star Guardians.
The Patch 9.18 brought a good amount of buffs and nerfs to Summoners Rift. But it also brought to League of Legends a wave of new Star Guardians that includes Neeko (and a prestige edition Neeko), Zoe, Xayah, and Rakan.

Neeko sports green, and orange as primary colors in her standard edition. It’s very vibrant and colorful and matches Neeko’ s playful personality. This skin even comes with the frog friend from the trailer as a nice touch.
If you love color get this one. It looks better than winter wonder Neeko, which is her only other skins. I’m most excited about this one from the new wave.
You can also pick up a gold prestige edition for Neeko. There is no shortage of gold in this one.
The tail also looks like a galaxy full of stars on this version, versus the bigger stars that match her headpiece on the standard. Plus, she uses the tail like a helicopter. This might be worth the pass for me for the first time ever.
Then we have Zoe. She sports a darker purple and blue color scheme, which is very impressive looking. Yet feel like this is more she is the villain of the collection.
I could see this skin also has a place in the Dark Star lineup of skins as well. Just take a peek into Zoe’s purple eye to get the glow you often see in dark stars. I think it fits as many a mid laner thinks Zoe is evil despite her cute and cartoon looks.
Then we have the lover’s duo Xayah and Rakan. Xayah sports purple and gold, while Rakan is purple, blue and green. They both also seem to come with pets that look like owls.
I’m not entirely sure Rakan is a good guy as he has that look that just says he’s hiding something. Maybe he’s going to double-cross Xayah? Maybe the twist is their both villains. I’m not sure, but they’re probably my least favorite of the bunch.
The ultimate question is where do these skins belong in the list of all the star guardians. Well here are my rankings for all 14 of these cosmos defenders. Note the Pajama Guardian variants aren’t included on the list, despite being pretty good options in their own right.
