LPL 2019 Championship Points

Roster

Top – Martin “Wunder” Hansen
Jungle – Marcin “Jankos” Jankowski
Mid – Rasmus “Caps” Winther
ADC – Luka “Perkz” Perković
Support – Mihael “Mikyx” Mehle

How they got here

What Liquid is to the LCS, G2 is to the LEC except on steroids. They finished both the Spring and Summer Split regular-seasons with the best record and followed both those fantastic regular seasons up with playoff victories.

More from Blog of Legends

Of course, G2 also come into this World Championship as the winners of the most recent international tournament, MSI. Although their performance in the group stage was less than stellar (they finished third with a 5-5 record) they managed to take out SKT in the knockout round, 3-2 and then dispatched of Liquid with ease in the fastest 3-0 in an international tournament to flex their utter dominance.

Player to watch

Jankos, G2’s MVP jungler who should be leading the conversation for the best jungler in the world. Considering his impeccable early-game pathing, superior vision control, and insane damage outputs relative to his role, Jankos will be a big factor in how far G2 goes.

Best case scenario

This team can win the World Championship. They have a line-up that lacks any true weakness outside of perhaps Perkz as a converted ADC or Wunder in the top lane, but even those two aren’t weak but just not as exceptional as the rest of their teammates are.

Worst case scenario

G2 has a reputation, unfair or not, as the team that comes into Worlds with huge expectations and flops. Perkz, individually, has been a huge part of that trend (or meme) and with him in a role he still hasn’t proven to be elite in, they could run cold and lose in quarterfinals.

Prediction

Perkz and Wunder will be good, but not good enough in the knockout stage. They’ll take the first round easily but lose in the semifinals.
