League of Legends Patch 9.19 breakdown – a whole new World (Championship)
By Josh Tyler
The League of Legends patch for Worlds is here! What does Patch 9.19 bring to the pro play meta?
This is it, the end of the line. With Patch 9.19 announced we have the patch that the League of Legends World Championship will be played on. Will Riot’s ever-continuing attempt to balance champions like Akali and Aatrox finally find success?

With only champion changes in this patch (unless you count changing “The Black Cleaver” to just “Black Cleaver”), we will focus mostly on how the changes might affect the pro play. Which new champions might we see on the Worlds stage next week?
Skins
"Championship Ryze, Valiant Sword Riven, Majestic Empress Morgana, and Splendid Staff Nami will be available on September 26, 2019."
Champions
Aatrox
"Q – The Darkin Blade MINION DAMAGE REDUCTION :: 40% >>> 55%"
Aatrox was placed firmly in the dumpster in Patch 9.18, falling to the B tier in the top lane (and F tier in the mid lane). Riot giving him back a bit of waveclear is probably not going to push him too much harder, but given that he hasn’t been seen in pro play since those heavy 9.18 nerfs we’ll see how contested he will be at Worlds.
Akali
"R – Perfect Execution R2 MAXIMUM DAMAGE :: 195/420/645 >>> 225/450/645"
Similar story for Akali, who fell into our solo queue tier list’s C tier in the mid and top lanes after her most recent round of nerfs. Giving her back 30 extra damage on her ult at the first two ranks will probably be more meaningful. I think this change has a better chance to bring her into the Worlds meta than Aatrox.
