With the introduction of Brawler’s Gloves to Teamfight Tactics, it’s time to take a look at how good all the items are in the League of Legends game mode.

In Teamfight Tactics, items will dictate a lot of how you construct your team composition. If you have a lot of Recurve Bows, getting Shapeshifters is probably a bad idea, while a Rangers team would probably be good. The basic understanding of items, however, was turned on its head following League of Legends Patch 9.19.

More from League of Legends

In this patch, the Brawler’s Gloves item component was introduced to Teamfight Tactics, bringing several new items into the game mode and reworking a few existing items like Infinity Edge. In case you’re a bit thrown off by which items are good after all these changes, we will provide a tier list of all the completed items that you should be trying to build in your next game of TFT! One caveat, we will not be including the Spatula items that change your unit’s Origin (Darkin, Yuumi, Knight’s Vow) since those are a bit more situational.

Normally, we would do a tier list aggregation based on the opinions of other sites around the internet, but very few sites give rankings for items so I will give my (very biased and uneducated) opinion based on what other sites have said. Before looking at the completed items you should be going for in Teamfight Tactics, it’s important we also discuss which components are the strongest so you know what to prioritize on the Carousel.

Component items ranking

1. Spatula

It builds into all of the “Origin Shift” items that will allow you to round out your comp as well as Force of Nature, one of the strongest items in the game. Always go for a Spatula if you can.

2. Needlessly Large Rod

In terms of pure effectiveness, Large Rod is one of the best components because it can boost your champion’s spell damage. It’s also a component of two of the best completed items in the game – Guinsoo’s Rageblade and Morellonomicon.

3. Brawler’s Gloves

The newest component item is also one of the strongest, given how it can upgrade to one of the newest sneaky-good items in Thief’s Gloves (which automatically gives one champion two random items for free). It’s also critical (hehe) for an Assassin comp, as it builds into Infinity Edge now.

4. Giant’s Belt

Having pure health is better than resistances in Teamfight Tactics, because you often cannot predict what type of damage (physical or magic) you will face in the next round. It also builds into Morellonomicon, one of the best offensive items, and Warmog’s, one of the best defensive items, so it’s very flexible.

5. Recurve Bow

After looking at the stats and rankings of upgraded items, it became apparent that most of the items that build out of Recurve Bow are actually quite bad. Obviously, Guinsoo’s is the best and Giant Slayer and Rapid Firecannon are both good. After that, however, there is a steep drop off with some terrible items like Titanic Hydra and Cursed Blade.

6. Tear of the Goddess

Tear is an item with a lot of “good but not great” upgrades like Hush and Frozen Heart. Usually, it’s best to upgrade to a Seraph’s Embrace, but needing to get two Tears to have a particularly good item (i.e. having poor flexibility in builds and where it fits in a comp) makes it one of the weaker items.

7. Negatron Cloak

Negatron builds into some of the most powerful items in the game, like Hush, Bloodthirster, and, of course, Dragon’s Claw. Unfortunately, like Recurve Bow, the Negatron Cloak has a lot of unappealing upgrades like Zephyr, Ionic Spark, and Cursed Blade.

8. Chain Vest

Similar story for the Chain Vest as for the Negatron Cloak, building into a few good items (Guardian Angel, Red Buff, Frozen Heart) with a bunch of really bad ones (Locket, Sword Breaker). In fact, the upgrade for combining two Chain Vests – Thornmail – is one of the worst items in the game.

9. BF Sword

Finally, we have the BF Sword. This is great to get if you’re building a lot of Assassins, or if you want to build a Bloodthirster/Giant Slayer on units you already have a good amount of attack speed on. The only saving grace for this very limited component is the fact that it builds into the best item in the game, GA.

Without further ado, here is your tier list of completed items in Teamfight Tactics. The rankings within each tier do not matter since the item that you should build will be dependent on your team comp and which items you get via drops.
