League of Legends: The 5 best mid laners for climbing ranked
By Josh Tyler
With the end of the League of Legends ranked season approaching, here are the five best mid laners that you can use to climb to that next tier!
For those of you struggling to make the next tier, be it Gold, Plat, or Diamond, there are plenty of last-minute adjustments you can make to help climb the League of Legends ranked ladder. Obviously, one of the biggest ones is to adjust your champion pool to play the strongest champions.
Normally, our tier lists give a breakdown of the purely strongest champions in the game. Today, instead, we’re going to give you five mid lane champions who have been both strong throughout Season 9 but are also good to use in climbing through the lower elos. Obviously, don’t take these as gospel and give up on a champion that you have a high win rate with, but if you have been struggling with your champion pool here are a few champs that can help get you over the hump!

Ahri
Ahri‘s been one of the strongest mid laners throughout Season 9 so it’s natural that she would make our list of best mid laners to climb with. Not only has she had an average grade of S during this season, her lowest ranking in our tier list this season was an A grade. She has been incredibly strong throughout the entire season.
Although her kit has a lot of mechanical intensity, including two skill shots (her Q – Orb of Deception and E – Charm) she can output a ton of damage if those abilities hit. She also has great mobility thanks to the speed boost on her Q and the multiple dashes on her R – Spirit Rush.
In addition, these skill shots are fairly intuitive (they’re straight-line skills) so it’s not an incredibly large barrier for Ahri players to overcome. Indeed, she has a 51.4% win rate below Gold, which makes her an excellent candidate to climb with.
