League of Legends: How to carry with Miss Fortune on Patch 9.22
Looking for free LP in the final week of Season 9 ranked League of Legends? Pick Miss Fortune and Make It Rain from the ADC position with this guide!
We’ve reached the business end of the 2019 ranked season and there are just EIGHT days left for you to reach your desired tier before it’s marked on your Op.gg profile forever. Now’s the perfect time to load up League of Legends, hop on Summoner’s Rift, and grind out some last-minute LP and secure your place in Challenger before the season comes to a close.
If you’re an ADC main, or just interested in climbing the ranked ladder, then this quick guide is for you! Here are all the tips and tricks you’ll need to pick Miss Fortune in champion select and carry your team on the Rift.
Since Patch 9.22’s introduction, Miss Fortune has risen up the ADC tier list and is amongst the very best champions in her role. As of today, MF boasts a 53.97% win rate across all regions with a 9.8% pick rate, which undoubtedly has the balance team looking to nerf her in the upcoming pre-season patches.
So, to take advantage of Miss Fortune’s sky-rocketing win rate for some free LP before she’s inevitably nerfed next week, take a look at this guide and jump into solo queue as soon as possible!
Runes
Start with the Inspiration tree, taking Kleptomancy to take advantage of spammable skills in lane for some free gold and items. Follow this up with Magical Footwear to maintain an early gold lead, Biscuit Delivery for free lane sustain, and Cosmic Insight for Summoner Spell cooldown reduction.
Your secondary tree should be Precision, using Overheal and Legend: Bloodline for even more sustain in lane, and life steal in team fights as your items won’t be providing any.
As for bonus stats, Attack Speed, Adaptive Force, and Armor are usually the best options.
Skill Order
Q -> W -> E.
Item Build
Keep it relatively simple with starting items, pick up a Doran’s Blade in 99% of match-ups, or take a Doran’s Shield if you’re facing heavy poke in lane.
Recalls in the first ten minutes of the game should be focused on building key items to complete Essence Reaver and Berserker’s Greaves. For example, if you’re enjoying a relatively free lane, wait until 1300 gold to pick up a BF Sword. Or if you’re struggling, perhaps recall early for some more sustain via a Refillable Potion, and maybe just purchase a couple of Long Swords as well.
Once your first two items are complete and you’re firmly in the mid-game, save up tonnes of gold at a time to make a huge Infinity Edge investment to improve your damage and crit enemies every other auto-attack. Combine this with attack speed from Rapid Firecannon and your damage has spiked and you’re ready to tear through the opposition with crazy DPS.
Round out your build with Quicksilver Sash if there is key crowd control to avoid and remove in a team fight, or pick up a Guardian Angel if you’re constantly threatened by dives from tanks or assassins. Otherwise, just continue to build damage. Peak at 100% crit chance by building a Phantom Dancer or takedown tanks easily with a Mortal Reminder.
Gameplay
Now for the most important part – the gameplay. Miss Fortune is a unique marksman due to the fact that she’s the only one that can burst down an entire enemy team from 100% HP to 0% HP with her ultimate, but finding the opportunity to do so is rare. Instead, to play MF you must focus on putting out damage using auto-attacks and Double Ups and just hope that you get the chance to make a game-winning play with Bullet Time.

In the early game, Miss Fortune is vulnerable due to her low attack range and lack of escape tools, but she also has one of the highest early game damage outputs of any ADC. The Bounty Hunter can chunk out opposing laners by casting Q – Double Up on a low health enemy minion, killing it, and dealing huge damage to her opponent if they’re in range.
You should play a quiet, low engagement laning phase, focusing on farming and occasionally poking the enemy with Qs when the opportunity presents itself. Wait for your jungler to intervene in the lane, setting up the gank with a well-placed E – Make It Rain to slow the enemies, then follow your support and jungler to blow Summoner Spells or pick up kills.
When it comes to the mid-game and skirmishes around key objectives, such as outer towers, elemental dragons, or the Rift Herald, your vulnerability makes you an easy target. Space correctly around team fights and focus the nearest target, activating W – Strut for a burst of attack speed, and spamming Double Ups around the fight. When the opposition is grouped up, don’t hesitate to cast your ultimate, Bullet Time, to potentially devastating effect.
Continue playing in this manner throughout the game, continuously being mindful of your low range and lack of escapes. Your game plan should be to build a gold lead early by poking your opponent out of lane, building an advantage through Kleptomancy, and forcing fights around early objectives. Once you’ve reached the later stages, the enemy carry will start to outscale you, so ideally look to close out the game before the 30-minute mark.
To do this, set up vision around Baron Nashor and force a fight. A well placed Bullet Time in the tight river corridor could instantly turn the game in your favor and allow you to push for the end. It’s key to remember that upon reaching three items (Essence Reaver, Infinity Edge, and Rapid Firecannon) your damage has peaked and to end as soon as possible.
Head onto the Rift with Miss Fortune for free LP on Patch 9.22 and pray to Riot Gods that the perfect Bullet Time sets itself up for you in a team fight!
