With the conclusion of the World Championship, League of Legends has officially entered the offseason. Here are our thoughts on how every LEC team can improve for 2020.

The 2019 World Championship was undoubtedly the most thrilling League of Legends event in recent memory, but the offseason rumors over the next few months could give it a run for its money.

Some players enjoy the excitement of solo queue, others prefer watching the esports side of the game, but some just live for the rumors and drama created throughout November and December in anticipation of a new competitive season. If that final line perfectly describes you, then stick around, as we’ll be breaking down the areas in which every LEC team can improve before the 2020 Spring Split rolls around.

With a Mid-Season Invitational trophy in the cabinet, a Worlds runners-up medal, and three teams reaching the knockout stages of League of Legends’ most prestigious tournament of the calendar year, Europe has never had a year quite as successful as 2019. Fnatic, G2 Esports, and Splyce made EU fans proud internationally, while domestically the LEC established itself as one of the most-watched and most competitive esports leagues in the world.

So, in order to improve on this year’s result and finally take down LPL teams in 2020, there’s only one solution, right? Roster swaps.

Obviously, that’s not always the case, but in order to generate some hype and drama heading into the offseason, it’s only right to speculate on how some LEC teams may act during the next sixty days. With Upset announcing his departure from Schalke 04 and Youngbuck joining Excel Esports earlier this week, European roster swaps are clearly already well underway, so it’s time we get on board and add to the yearly offseason confusion.

Through this article, we’ll be picking out one role to improve on for all ten teams in the 2020 LEC season, whether that be to upgrade a player, change styles, or just freshen things up. There’ll be no suggestions on who to pick up to replace players, but instead, we’ll just focus on why that role might need a change and how that could impact the team’s performances in the Spring Split.
