Team Vitality – Support

This Team Vitality roster was all over the place in 2019, finding their way into both Spring and Summer playoffs but instantly crashing out in the first round of the knockouts.

Despite having a tonne of European talent on the starting line-up, Vitality failed to find any sort of momentum or synergy throughout the season and will chalk 2019 down as a disappointment. The likes of Lucas “Cabochard” Simon-Meslet and Daniele “Jiizuke” di Mauro never recaptured their exciting, unmatched form from the previous year, and new recruit Lee “Mowgli” Jae-ha failed to make an impact on the team from the jungle.

Perhaps the least surprising under-achiever on the Team Vitality roster was that of support player Jakub “Jactroll” Skurzyński who was often found dying in the bot lane 2v2 and struggling to make plays on some vital engage support champions. In fact, Jactroll had the second-lowest KDA of any support player in the Summer Split regular season (2.0), including the second-highest average deaths (3.7), and the second-lowest gold difference at 15 minutes (-205).

Ultimately Jactroll’s liability to get caught overextending, both in the laning phase and the later stages of the game, wasn’t the only reason for Vitality’s downfall in 2019 but was a huge contributor to their failures to compete with the top three/four teams in the LEC.

YamatoCannon and his coaching staff need to have a long, hard think about their season and how they can improve their roster going into 2020. In its current state, this Team Vitality line-up is in no way capable of challenging the likes of G2 Esports, Fnatic, and Splyce for Worlds qualification, and requires a major overhaul in the offseason.

Whether that involves one or several roster changes remains to be seen, but if we were to guess, support would be the first role Yamato looks at for a change over the coming months.
