We take a look at how the League of Legends mid lane meta changed after Patch 9.24.

Patch 9.24 concludes the 2019 season for League of Legends, with a few minor changes to champions and runes like Conqueror. The preseason chugs along despite these few buff and nerfs, but as our top lane tier list showed, even a few changes can greatly affect the meta. Here is our Patch 9.24 tier list for mid lane.

Observations

More from Blog of Legends

  • The mid lane was dominated by Zed and Ahri in Season 9 so it’s quite refreshing to see a new pair at the top of the tier list. Kassadin and Katarina flip-flopped spots from Patch 9.23 at the top of the mid lane tier list.
  • However, assassins continue to dominate the top of the mid lane meta, with six of the ten best champions in the position being assassins. Only three of the ten are traditional mages.

The biggest drop in our ranking from last patch belongs to Xerath, who fell from high-C to low-C tier. His win rate didn’t change dramatically, but he seems to be performing better in the support role than mid. He only has a 30.4% role selection rate.

Mordekaiser had the biggest rise in Patch 9.24, going from the high-D tier to B tier. In addition to being a monster in the top lane, he now has the second-highest win rate (54.2%) among mid laners.

The only champion with a higher win rate than Morde is Rumble (55.4%), which makes it surprising that he is in C tier. The champion with the losest win rate on this tier list is Irelia, at 45.4%, and unsurprisingly she is in the D tier as a result.
