We take a look at the League of Legends support meta in Patch 9.24.

Arguably, support received some of the biggest changes during the preseason with regards to their core item builds. With the League of Legends meta increasingly focused on bot lane, picking a strong support is more important than ever. Here are the best supports in Patch 9.24 to dominate lane.

Support tier list

S tier: Nautilus, Leona, Thresh (⇒), Blitzcrank (⇑⇒)
A+ tier: Senna, Morgana, Janna (⇑), Bard (⇑⇒), Soraka (⇑⇒)
A tier: Shaco (⇐⇑), Rakan (⇑), Nami
B tier:  Lulu (⇐), Swain, Zilean, Zyra, Pyke (⇓), Braum (⇑), Brand, Vel’Koz, Xerath (⇒), Taric (⇒)
C tier: Fiddlesticks (⇐⇓), Karma, Sona, Lux

F tier: Gragas (⇐), Galio (⇐), Tahm Kench (⇐), Shen, Malphite, Yuumi (⇓), Poppy, Volibear, Veigar

Key

  • * = new to the tier list this patch
  • ⇑ = improved (rated at least one tier higher than the previous patch)
  • ⇓ = declined (rated at least one tier lower than the previous patch)
  • ⇐ = borderline-up (within 10% of being in the next-higher tier)
  • ⇒ = borderline-down (within 10% of being in the next-lower tier)

Observations

More from Blog of Legends

  • Beyond the S tier supports, who are all hook/engage primarily, we actually have a fair amount of diversity in the support meta. There is one Assassin (Shaco), one Marksman (Senna), one Mage (Morgana) and three Enchanters (Janna, Soraka, and Senna) in the top ten supports.
  • The biggest drop in our ranking from the last patch belongs to Yuumi, which is unsurprising given the breadth of nerfs that she took in Patch 9.24. Similarly, after getting a bunch of buffs in this patch Braum shot up our support ranking to the low-B tier.
  • In terms of win rate, Shaco is the at the top of the support leaderboards with a 52.9% winning rate. On the opposite side of the coin, the least-winning support in Patch 9.24 is the benched one himself. Tahm Kench only has a 42.8% win rate in the support role on this patch.
