Here are the five champions in TFT that should be the centerpiece of your comp in a game.

Constructing a good comp in Teamfight Tactics requires a lot of patience, strategy, and luck. Beyond just finding the strongest units and best comps, though, to perform consistently well in TFT you need to make sure you are structuring that comp to have one or two primary carries with the appropriate items. Here is a list of the five champions in Patch 10.2 that should be one of your primary carries, which items are optimal on them, and which team comps they fit into.

1. Kindred

Kindred was a strong unit at the beginning of Season 10 as Inferno comps became more and more prominent. Now, with Rangers also becoming a strong synergy, Kindred flexes into a lot of different comps as a primary carry.

Build her when: You have at least one Tear (ideally two Tears) and one Brawler’s Glove plus either a BF Sword or Large Rod after the second Carousel (Round 2-5). If you have two Brawler’s Gloves or Recurve Bows, that is also fine.

Key Items: Seraph’s Embrace OR Infinity Edge AND Jeweled Gauntlet (as Kindred would say, “never one without the other”).

Other items: Rapidfire Cannon, Rabadon’s Deathcap, QSS, Hand of Justice.

Comps for Kindred:

  • Inferno/Summoners/Shadow/Mystic: Kindred, Annie, Zyra, Malzahar, Master Yi, Karma/Nami/Janna
  • Inferno 6/Summoners/Shadow: Kindred, Annie, Brand, Zyra, Varus, Amumu, Malzahar, Sion
  • Ranger 4/Inferno/Warden: Kindred, Twitch, Ashe, Varus, Amumu, Taric
    • Add two Mystics to this for a full comp

Second Carries to Pair with Kindred: Yorick (Summoner comps), Brand, Annie, Amumu, Twitch (Ranger comps), Ashe (Ranger comps)

2. Yorick

While that Light/Soulbound comp has fallen by the wayside recently, there is still a way to play full Light comps and take advantage of the synergy with Rangers and Summoners.

Build him when: You have items for Talisman of Light after Round 2-5 OR if you have primarily defensive items at that point (a lot of Chain Vests, Negatron Cloaks, or especially Giants Belts).

Key Items: Warmog’s Armor and/or Guardian Angel so he can get more of his ghouls onto the Arena.

Other items: Dragon’s Claw, Bramble Vest, Frozen Heart, Redemption, QSS, Death Cap, Morellonomicon

Comps for Yorick:

  • Light 6/Summoner: Yorick, Nasus, Jax, Aatrox, Soraka, Annie, Azir, Vayne
    • If you have Talisman of Light, put it on Azir, drop Vayne for another Mystic
  • Light 6/Lunar: Yorick, Nasus, Jax, Aatrox, Soraka, Vayne, Leona, Karma
  • Inferno/Light/Lunar: Yorick, Annie, Zyra, Amumu, Soraka, Jax, Leona, Karma

Second Carries to Pair with Yorick: Vayne, Annie (Inferno comps), Azir (if with ToL)

3. Twitch

Rangers have suddenly crept into the meta and the shocker of all shockers is that Twitch, long considered the worst 4-cost unit in the game has become a primary carry.

Build Twitch when: You have lots of early Recurve Bows OR you have items for a bunch of Infinity Edges.

Key Items: Last Whisper, Infinity Edge, Rapidfire Cannon

Other items: Runaan’s Hurricane, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, QSS, Deathblade, Giant Slayer

Comps for Twitch:

  • Ranger/Poison/Inferno: Twitch, Ashe, Kindred, Varus, Mundo, Singed, Amumu, Taric
  • Ranger/Poison/Lunar: Twitch, Ashe, Kindred, Varus/Vayne, Mundo, Singed, Leona, Karma
  • Ranger/Warden/Crystal: Twitch, Ashe, Kindred, Varus/Vayne, Taric, Amumu, Malphite, Leona/Nasus
    • Can also drop the last two Wardens for Mystic
  • Hyperroll Predator/Poison: Kog’Maw, Skarner, Rek’Sai, Singed, Twitch, Ashe, Nocturne
    • Only build this if you have at least five Kog’Maws by 2-5

Second Carries to Pair with Twitch: Ashe, Kindred, Kog’Maw (Predator comps)

4. Azir

Even as the Blender comps have been nerfed into oblivion, there is still a lot of flexibility for Azir to be a big carry in a variety of comps.

Build Azir when: You get early items for Youmuu’s Ghostblade (shocker, but he actually does better in an Assassin comp than the Blender comp now) or Talisman of Light (for that Light/Summoner comp we mentioned above).

Key Items: Talisman of Light OR Youmuu’s Ghostblade

Other items: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Deathcap

Comps for Azir:

  • Summoner/Light: Azir, Yorick, Annie, Nasus, Jax, Aatrox, Soraka, Karma
    • This requires the Talisman of Light on Azir
  • Assassin/Summoner/Desert: Azir, Yorick, Zed, Kha’Zix, Qiyana, Soraka, Nami
  • Full Desert/Assassin 6: Azir, Renekton, Sivir, Kha’Zix, Zed, Qiyana, Leblanc, Nocturne
    • This requires Youmuu’s Ghostblade on Azir

Second Carries to Pair with Azir: Zed, Kha’Zix, Yorick
