Here are the five champions in TFT that should be the centerpiece of your comp this patch.

If you’re ever at a loss in a game of TFT, trying to figure out which champions are best for your comp or just best in general, we have the answers. Here is a list of the five champions in Patch 10.3 that should be one of your primary carries, which items are optimal on them, and which team comps they fit into.

1. Kindred

She remains one of, if not the, most powerful champions in the game because of her flexibility. She fits into just about every strong meta comp with her triple synergies (Inferno, Shadow, Ranger), each of which can have a strong comp built around them.

More from Blog of Legends

Build her when: You have at least one Tear (ideally two Tears) and one Brawler’s Glove plus either a BF Sword or Large Rod after the second Carousel (Round 2-5). If you have two Brawler’s Gloves or Recurve Bows, that is also fine.

Key items: Seraph’s Embrace OR the combination of both Infinity Edge AND Jeweled Gauntlet. Ideally, you’d want all three if possible.

Other items that work: Rapidfire Cannon, Rabadon’s Deathcap, QSS, Hand of Justice.

Comps for Kindred:

  • Inferno/Summoners: Kindred, Annie, Zyra, Malzahar, Master Yi, one of Karma/Nami/Janna
    • You can also make this a full Inferno comp by adding Brand, Amumu, Varus and dropping the extra Mystic.
  • Inferno/Rangers: Kindred, Twitch, Ashe, Varus, Amumu, Taric
    • Add two Mystics to this for a full comp.
  • Full Shadow: Kindred, Malzahar, Senna, Sion, Veigar, Master Yi
    • Add two Summoners (ideally Annie and Zyra) for a full comp.

Second Carries to Pair with Kindred: Annie/Amumu (Inferno comps), Twitch/Ashe (Ranger comps)

2. Yasuo

Out of nowhere, Yasuo has become one of the more powerful and popular picks as part of the Assassin/Summoner comps (that I have been calling “Assassinuo”). He is far less flexible than Kindred, but if you get particular items on him early he can carry games.

Build him when: You have items for Youmuu’s Ghostblade after Round 2-5 OR if you have multiple either Brawler’s Gloves or BF Swords.

Key items: Ghostblade (this is mandatory) to make him an Assassin and Hand of Justice

Other items that work on Yasuo: Infinity Edge, Guardian Angel, QSS

Comps for Yasuo:

  • Assassinuo: Yasuo, Qiyana, Kha’Zix, Leona, Karma, Taric/Malphite, Janna
    • You can swap Janna for Nami, but it is not advised as Janna gives the Cloud synergy.
  • Assassin/Desert: Yasuo, Qiyana, Kha’Zix, Azir, Renekton, Sivir
    • From here, would advise to add Mystics (one being Janna).
  • Summoner/Assassin: Yasuo, Zed, Kha’Zix, Azir, Yorick
    • From here, you have flexibility to add Mystics or Wardens based on what comps your enemies are building. Janna is often advised here for Cloud synergy and Qiyana can be swapped for Kha’Zix if need be.

Second Carries to Pair with Yasuo: Kha’Zix (Assassinuo), Azir (Summoner)

3. Twitch

Rangers are still incredibly strong, as are Poison champions. Twitch can still hit like a truck if you keep him alive long enough and have the right items.

Build Twitch when: You have items for a bunch of Infinity Edges or just a low of Brawler’s Gloves

Key Items: Last Whisper, Infinity Edge

Other items: Runaan’s Hurricane, Guinsoo’s Rageblade, QSS, Deathblade, Giant Slayer

Comps for Twitch:

  • Hyperroll Predator/Poison: Kog’Maw, Skarner, Rek’Sai, Singed, Twitch, Ashe, Nocturne, Taric
    • Only build this if you have at least five Kog’Maws by 2-5
  • Poison/Inferno/Rangers: Twitch, Ashe, Kindred, Varus, Dr. Mundo, Singed, Amumu, Taric
  • Full Rangers/Poison: Twitch, Ashe, Kindred, Ezreal, Varus, Vayne, Dr. Mundo, Singed

Second Carries to Pair with Twitch: Ashe (Ranger comps), Kog’Maw (only in Predator comps)

4. Amumu

Inferno comps have so much flexibility and Amumu’s AoE ability still brings so much utility to a team. He’s not a “carry” in the sense that he wants to do all the damage (though he can with a Morello) but he’s one of those champs you can throw all your defensive items on.

Build Amumu when: You have a bunch of defensive items and your comp has some Infernos (which should be pretty frequently).

Key items: Warmog’s Armor, Dragon’s Claw, Titan’s Resolve

Other items that work on Amumu: Redemption, Morellonomicon, Guardian Angel, QSS, Rabadon’s Deathcap

Comps for Amumu:

  • Full Inferno/Shadow: Amumu, Brand, Kindred, Annie, Zyra, Varus, Malzahar, Master Yi
  • Inferno/Mages: Amumu, Brand, Annie, Vladimir, Syndra, Thresh, Nami

Second Carries to Pair with Amumu: Brand (always)

5. Ashe

The last of the big carries, she’s arguably the strongest just based on how simple her strongest synergy – Crystal – is to get and fit into any comp. With Rangers as strong as they are, Ashe is almost never a bad pick.

Build Ashe when: You have Recurve Bows on Recurve Bows early.

Key items: Statik Shiv, Bloodthirster

Other items that work on Ashe: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Runaan’s Hurricane, Deathblade, Hand of Justice, Infinity Edge, Guardian Angel

Comps for Ashe:

  • Full Ranger/Crystal: Ashe, Taric, Twitch, Kindred, Vayne, Ezreal, Varus, Amumu/Malphite
  • Crystal/Predator/Poison: Ashe, Skarner, Rek’Sai, Kog’Maw, Twitch, Dr. Mundo/Singed
    • From here, you can add any two Rangers or Mystics to round out the comp

Second Carries to Pair with Ashe: Twitch (always)
