We break down all the action and rank all the teams after Week 4 of LCS play.

Week 4 was marked by the “triumphant” beginning of the TL Broxah era, TSM squandering two huge advantages, and Zven‘s 100 KDA dream dying. There was plenty of LCS action to be had, but the teams at the very top and bottom of the standings remain very clear.

10. CLG (1-7)

Elo: 162 (-8)

There’s not much to say about CLG that hasn’t already been said. They’re bad. Their early game is the worst in the LCS, as they average over a 1k gold deficit at 15, they have the worst gold per minute as a team, and they have the worst kills to deaths ratio of any team.

This weekend, CLG played foil to a couple of teams in the bottom half of the standings – Golden Guardians and Team Liquid – and were promptly steamrolled by both. Approaching the halfway point of the split, this team needs major changes. And fast.

9. Evil Geniuses (3-5)

Elo: 291 (+75)

EG may not have risen in our rankings but, as you can see, they got a nice boost in their rating by shocking Immortals before bowing out to Cloud9. It’s actually surprising, but looking at the stats EG is kind of just a worse version of TSM. They have a good early game (Oracle’s Elixir rates them at 57.4 EGR, which is third-best) and a horrible late game (their -19.9 MLR is the worst in the LCS). If EG can ever fix that late game, this could be a deadly team.

8. Team Liquid (3-5)

Elo: 344 (-19)

Sorry TL fans but I (and the elo gods) are not impressed because you managed to beat CLG, even if you did do it in a convincing fashion. The loss to Immortals still hurts and it hurts even more that you weren’t even close to being competitive in the game. Broxah will need time to adjust to his new teammates before this team can reach their final form but for now TL needs to start picking up wins where they can.

7. 100 Thieves (3-5)

Elo: 356 (-44)

After an 0-2 weekend, the Thieves are finally starting to run out of gas. True, they did lose to two of the best teams in the LCS in Dignitas and FlyQuest. Unfortunately, they are in the bottom half of the LCS in almost every key statistical category and still don’t have a strong player they can play through to pick up wins.

6. Golden Guardians (4-4)

Elo: 361 (+47)

A 2-0 week has the Guardians surging towards the mid-point of the season, picking up a surprising win over Dignitas along with an expected one over CLG. Golden Guardians don’t really stand out in any particular statistical category, they just kind of do everything solid. That’s impressive for a team that came in with very low expectations.
