As TFT Set 3 hits the PBE today, we look at all of the synergies and units that will be available!

TFT Set 3 is officially on its way, with the Galaxies hitting the PBE and gameplay videos already dropping from some of the best content creators. While we haven’t gotten our hands on the new set just yet, we do have descriptions of all the different Origins and Classes that will be coming to TFT and the champions within. Let’s take a look at which traits look like they’re going to be overpowered and which ones look underwhelming.

I’ll be giving a brief description of each Origin or Class, listing each champion in the Origin/Class, and give my thoughts of how strong the trait will be in TFT. We’ll do Origins and then Classes, starting at what I think will be the most powerful, going down to the least powerful trait.

Origins

1. Chrono

Description: The passive is quite simple, granting bonus attack speed to all allies every four seconds (2/4/6 units).

Champions

  • Caitlyn (1g)
  • Twisted Fate (1g)
  • Blitzcrank (2g)
  • Shen (2g)
  • Ezreal (3g)
  • Wukong (4g)
  • Thresh (5g)

Thoughts: This Origin can be incredibly powerful if paired with the right Class. Luckily, there are at least two Classes with “bridge” units in the Chrono Origin that could help them and the Origin become a keystone to build around.

With two units that have on-hit and bonus attack synergies (Shen as a Blademaster and Ezreal as a Blaster) I think this synergy is going to be super beneficial to both those classes. The fact that it gives all allies bonus AS is massive and I can easily see Chrono/Blaster and Chrono/Blademaster comps being a staple in Set 3.

2. Mech Pilot

Description: If you have all three Mech Pilots, the champions are merged into one Super Mech until it dies (3 units).

Champions

  • Annie (2g)
  • Rumble (3g)
  • Fizz (4g)

Thoughts: I have no idea how strong a Mech Pilot comp is going to be, how strong the Super Mech is, and how much utility the units themselves have outside of the Mech. However, it seems similar to the Daisy Summon from Set 1 in that it will give you another meat shield to soak damage and protect those three units at the same time. At the very least, that should be decently strong regardless of those other questions.

3. Rebel

Description: Rebels gain a shield and increased damage at the start of combat (3/6 units)

Champions

  • Malphite (1g)
  • Ziggs (1g)
  • Sona (2g)
  • Yasuo (2g)
  • Master Yi (3g)
  • Jinx (4g)
  • Aurelion Sol (5g)

Thoughts: This is going to be a strong synergy to build around, as it grants guaranteed extra stats and allows you to position your units to maximize the trait’s effectiveness. It’ll depend a bit on numbers and how strong individual champions are within the synergy, but I think Rebels will be one of the core comps in Set 3.
