TFT: Five Champions to Build Comps Around in Patch 10.5
By Josh Tyler
Here are the five champions in TFT that should be the centerpiece of your comp this patch.
Patch 10.5 will be the last of TFT Set 2: Rise of the Elements, so this will also be your last chance to climb ranked and get those sweet rewards. With one last chance to play your favorite comps from Set 2, here are all the best units to build around!
1. Yasuo
The straight Blademaster comps are doing very well in Patch 10.5 (particularly Blademaster/Desert) and his Cloud synergy has always been strong. You can also add him to a Shadow comp along with Master Yi!
Build Yasuo when: You get multiple BF Swords early.
Key items: Bloodthirster, Guardian Angel
Other items that work on Yasuo: Hand of Justice, Infinity Edge, Last Whisper, QSS
Comps for Yasuo:
- Assassinuo: Yasuo (with Youmuu’s Ghostblade), Qiyana, Kha’Zix, Leona, Karma, Taric/Malphite, Janna
- You can swap Janna for Nami, but it is not advised as Janna gives the Cloud synergy.
- Blademaster/Desert: Yasuo, Renekton, Kha’Zix, Azir, Sivir, Master Yi, Janna
- If you get a Blade of the Ruined King, put it on Yasuo and add Nocturne + Rek’Sai for a new variation of the Blender comp.
- You can also just go 2 Desert (Azir and Sivir) and go 4 Mystic instead (add Soraka and Karma instead of Renekton/Kha’Zix).
- Shadow/Blademaster: Yasuo, Malzahar, Senna, Kindred, Sion, Veigar, Master Yi, Janna
Second Carries to Pair with Yasuo: Kha’Zix (Assassinuo), Azir (Desert), Master Yi (Shadow)

2. Dr. Mundo
The hyper-roll predators are a bit on the down-swing, but they’re still very viable. Make sure you’re always pairing him up with Singed for maximum effectiveness.
Build Mundo when: You have a lot of tanky items early or you think you can hyper-roll Predators.
Key Items: Locket of the Iron Solari, Zeke’s Herald
Other items: Warmogs, Dragon’s Claw, Bramble Vest, Frozen Heart
Comps for Dr. Mundo:
- Hyperroll Predator/Poison: Dr. Mundo, Kog’Maw, Skarner, Rek’Sai, Singed/Twitch, Nocturne, Taric
- Only build this if you have at least five Kog’Maws by 2-5
- Poison/Rangers: Dr. Mundo, Twitch, Ashe, Kindred/Varus/Ezreal, Singed, Taric/Amumu/Braum
- You’ll want two of Kindred, Varus, and Ezreal, and which Warden you use to round out your comp will be dependent on which Ranger you take. However, Taric is usually still the best.
- 6 Berserkers: Dr. Mundo, Olaf, Volibear, Sion, Renekton, Jax
- From here, can add Twitch and Singed for Poison OR Braum and Ezreal for 4 Glacial OR Karma and Janna for Mystic.
Second Carries to Pair with Dr. Mundo: Twitch (Ranger comps), Kog’Maw (only in Predator comps), Olaf (Berserker comps)
3. Master Yi
A lot of overlap between Yi and Yasuo.
Build Master Yi when: You have attack speed and/or AD items..
Key Items: Rapidfire Cannon
Other items: Hand of Justice, Guardian Angel, Blood Thirster, Infinity Edge, Last Whisper, Guinsoo’s Rageblade.
Comps for Master Yi:
- 6 Shadow: Master Yi, Kindred, Senna, Malzahar, Sion, Veigar
- Add Yasuo and Janna if you were going for a Blademaster comp that didn’t quite come together
- Add Varus and Amumu if you want to go Inferno as well and/or have decent items on Kindred.
- Blademaster/Mystic: Master Yi, Yasuo, Aatrox, Sivir, Leona, Karma, Janna, Soraka
- You can also swap Leona for Azir if you really need the armor reduction from Desert.
- Desert/Blademaster: Master Yi, Renekton, Yasuo, Aatrox, Sivir, Azir, Kha’Zix, Janna
- You can drop Aatrox if you manage to get a Blade of the Ruined King (put it on Azir).
Second Carries to Pair with Master Yi: Kindred (Shadow comps), Yasuo (Blademaster comps), Sion (Shadow comps).
4. Kindred
She dropped off a bit last patch in favor of carries like Yorick and Ashe, but Kindred is right back as one of the premiere mid-level carries in TFT. With Shadow comps being so good, Kindred is almost never a bad pick up.
Build her when: You have at least one Tear (ideally two Tears) and one Brawler’s Glove plus either a BF Sword or Large Rod after the second Carousel (Round 2-5).
Key items: Seraph’s Embrace OR the combination of both Infinity Edge AND Jeweled Gauntlet. Ideally, you’d want all three if possible.
Other items that work: Rapidfire Cannon, Rabadon’s Deathcap, QSS, Hand of Justice.
Comps for Kindred:
- Poison/Rangers: Kindred, Ezreal, Dr. Mundo, Twitch, Ashe, Singed, Taric
- Can swap Ezreal for Vayne if you’re able to 3-star Vayne.
- 6 Shadow: Kindred, Master Yi, Senna, Malzahar, Sion, Veigar
- Add Varus and Amumu if you want to go Inferno as well. You can also just add Mystics or Wardens for defense if you can’t find Amumu.
- Shadow/Ranger: Kindred, Varus, Ashe, Twitch, Sion, Master Yi
- Can swap Master Yi for Senna, Veigar, or Malzahar if you get them to 3-star.
Second Carries to Pair with Kindred: Master Yi (Shadow comps), Ashe (Ranger comps)
5. Ashe
Lot of options for Rangers including Poison, Shadow, and Inferno. The duo of her and Taric remains strong.
Build Ashe when: You have Recurve Bows and Tears all day.
Key items: Statik Shiv, Bloodthirster
Other items that work on Ashe: Guinsoo’s Rageblade, Runaan’s Hurricane, Deathblade, Hand of Justice, Infinity Edge, Guardian Angel
Comps for Ashe:
- Full Ranger/Crystal: Ashe, Taric, Twitch, Kindred, Vayne, Ezreal, Varus, Amumu/Malphite
- Crystal/Predator/Poison: Ashe, Skarner, Rek’Sai, Kog’Maw, Twitch, Dr. Mundo/Singed
- Shadow/Ranger: Ashe, Kindred, Varus, Twitch, Sion, Master YiCan swap Master Yi for Senna, Veigar, or Malzahar if you get them to 3-star.
Second Carries to Pair with Ashe: Twitch (always), Taric (always)
