TFT Patch 10.6: Welcome the Guardians of the Galaxies
By Josh Tyler
Items
"Hush ⇒ Chalice of Favor (Tear of the Goddess + Negatron Cloak) Whenever you cast your spell, give all nearby allies 10 mana."
I personally think Hush was a fantastic item in TFT, if somewhat underwhelming when the chance to silence was removed. The new Chalice of Favor will work very well on supportive units, especially in comps like Mages with Mystics or Star Guardians.
"Iceborne Gauntlet ⇒ Shroud of Stillness (Brawler’s Glove + Chain Mail) At the start of combat, shoot a beam forward that causes all enemies hit to have their max mana increased by 40% until they cast once."
Iceborne Gauntlet was a “Swiss Army Knife” item in TFT that you could put on any unit, but it was never an item you really wanted to get. Shroud of Stillness will effectively cause a temporary Poison effect. That’s useful, but time will only tell how useful it will be.

"Titanic Hydra ⇒ Zz’Rot Portal (Recurve Bow + Giant’s Belt) Upon death, summon a Voidling with 1000/2000/4000 HP that taunts all nearby enemies."
Someone tell Trick2g that Zz’Rot Portal is back in Patch 10.6! This is a very unique item that could be fantastic on a tank since it’ll summon a unit that can also soak damage with its guaranteed taunt.
Item Changes
"Bloodthirster Healing: 50% ⇒ 30%"
Bloodthirster was an incredibly strong item in Set 2 and with Blademasters/Blasters likely the strongest comp coming out the gates I have no problem with a nerf here.
"Deathblade Starting Stacks: 1 ⇒ 2"
Deathblade was already an underrated item and now it’s getting more power front-loaded. This is going to be a BIG boon to Blademasters who will love this item as much as they did in Set 2.
"Giant Slayer: 9% current HP ⇒ 12% current HP physical damage"
Great for those on-hit damage dealers like the Blasters or (again) Blademasters.
"Hextech Gunblade Vamp: 33% ⇒ 25%"
Negligible decrease to the healing from spell damage. I don’t know who in Set 3 will want this item but it’s unlikely that this change greatly tips the scales of who will buy it.
"Ionic Spark: Now also reduces nearby enemies’ MR by 50% (does not stack)"
I love this change, as it actually gives the item a niche within the TFT meta. Now, this is a great item for damage-dealing Mages or damage-dealing tanks in comps with Mages.
"Morellonomicon Burn: 18% ⇒ 20%"
Morello was a great item in Set 2 and I would guess it will continue to be for Mages in Set 3.
"Quicksilver: CC Immune ⇒ CC Immune for the first 15 seconds."
I actually hate this change, because Quicksilver gave you a good option for protecting your most valuable units from CC. Brief windows of immunity, especially when you can’t control when it activates or what ability it blocks. However, this window of 15 seconds is long enough that it might actually not matter.
"Rabadon’s Deathcap Bonus AP: 75% ⇒ 50%"
Deathcap was never a must-buy item on Mages, so nerfing the bonus AP is probably just going to make players buy more items like Morellos or Seraph’s.
"Red Buff Burn: 18% ⇒ 20%"
Now matches the burn from Morellos. This wasn’t as prized as its AP counter-part, but it’s still a great item for on-hit attackers (which should be good in this TFT set.
"Redemption: Wearer heals entire team for 800 hp on death"
GREAT change because it really stunk when the wearer was dying far out or range of all your low-health carries and no one got healed. We’ll have to see if the channel on the heal will remain.
"Runaan’s Hurricane projectile damage 60% ⇒ 70% of standard basic attack."
Hurricane is a decent item and this is a nice buff, but I don’t think it pushes anyone to buy it who wasn’t going to already.
"Statikk Shiv: 85 ⇒ 70 dmg per bounce"
Now Shiv was almost a must-buy for ranged damage dealers, so I’m not at all against this nerf. Happy to see the itemization for auto-attackers opening up a bit.
"Warmog’s Armor: 6% missing HP ⇒ 4% missing HP, max of 150 HP/tick"
Yeah Warmogs was absolutely insane on certain units (like Braum with Bramble Vest) making rounds drag out and become unkillable. This is a huge nerf to hyper-tanks and I am all for it.
"Zeke’s Herald: 15% AS ⇒ 18% AS"
I legitimately forgot this was an item, so that shows just how impactful it was in Set 2. Perhaps it will get some more traction in Set 3 thanks to this buff.
"Zephyr Banish Duration: 6 sec ⇒ 5 sec"
Zephyr was an uber-strong unit, especially in the late game to get an advantage on an opponent when you know their positioning. Luckily, the component items are almost too good in other completed items to make this something players will typically rush, especially early.
