Here are the best champions and best TFT comps to run them in!

The best TFT players know how to find the best champions and maximize their efficiency in a solid comp. If you’re not sure which champions are the best, they tend to be ones that can be flexed into multiple strong TFT comps. Today, we’ll be giving you five champions who are both strong and versatile, so that you should almost always build around them and adjust your comp accordingly.

Keep in mind that these aren’t necessarily the strongest champions or TFT comps. Something like Slow Roll Protectors with Xin Zhao as the primary carry is one of the strongest comps in the game. However, unlike the Slow Roll Protectors, these champions have more than one narrow comp in which they can function, so you have the ability to pivot as needed.

1. Jhin

Dark Star is still an incredibly strong synergy and Jhin is still a reliable carry to build around.

Build Jhin when: You have multiple BF Swords early.

Key items: Infinity Edge.

Other items that work: Runaan’s Hurricane, Guardian Angel, Death Blade, Hand of Justice, Bloodthirster.

Comps for Jhin:

  • “Jhinguard”: Jhin (*), Ashe (*), Mordekaiser, Wukong, Poppy, Jayce, Karma, Lulu.
    • You can also drop two Vanguards (Poppy and Jayce, ideally) for two additional Mystics, but only do this if the top enemies are stacking magic damage.
  • Dark Star/Celestial: Jhin (*), Ashe, Jarvan, Shaco (*), Karma, Lux, Xerath, Lulu.

Second Carries to Pair with Jhin: Ashe (always), Shaco (Dark Star).

2. Miss Fortune

Everyone seems to have forgotten about Blasters/Brawlers, but it’s still quite strong. Also, Kayle and Valkyries, which have long been slept on are starting to become highly prioritized.

Build MF when: You want a Valkyrie or AoE damage items.

Key Items: Seraph’s Embrace, Deathcap.

Other items: Infinity Edge, Hand of Justice, Jeweled Gauntlet, Morellonomicon, QSS.

Comps for Miss Fortune:

  • Blasters/Brawlers: Miss Fortune (*), Jinx (*), Ezreal, Graves/Lucian, Malphite, Blitzcrank, Vi, Cho’Gath.
  • Chrono/Blademaster/Blasters: Miss Fortune (*), Kayle (*), Shen, Xayah/Fiora, Thresh, Ezreal.
  • Blasters/Cybernetic: Miss Fortune (*), Lucian (*), Ekko, Vi, Leona, Fiora, Irelia, Kayle.

Second Carries to Pair with Miss Fortune: Jinx (Brawlers), Kayle (Blademasters or any time you can slot her into your comp), Lucian (Cybernetic).

3. Shaco

Once again, Shaco is an incredibly strong carry in the Dark Star comps, but he is also worth buying if you’re going Mech-Pilot/Infiltrators (yes, that is still very much a thing).

Build Shaco when: You have get early BF Swords.

Key items: Bloodthirster, Infinity Edge.

Other items: Guardian Angel, Deathblade, Hand of Justice.

Comps for Shaco:

  • Mech/Infiltrators: Shaco (*), Kai’Sa (*), Ekko, Fizz, Annie, Rumble, Lux, Karma.
  • Dark Star/Infiltrators: Shaco (*), Lux, Mordekaiser, Jhin (*), Jarvan, Karma, Fizz.
  • Mech/Valkyrie: Shaco (*), Annie, Rumble, Fizz (*), Kai’Sa, Kayle/MF, Lux, Ekko.

Second Carries to Pair with Shaco: Kai’Sa and Fizz (Mech-Pilots), Jhin (Dark Star).

4. Xerath

Sorcerers are an incredibly strong comp in Patch 10.8, but they don’t flex incredibly well into other comps (most Sorcerers are Star Guardians, making their pivot potential limited). However, Xerath is an incredibly strong late game unit that can slot into the Dark Star comps as well.

Build Xerath when: You can late game.

Key Items: QSS.

Other items: Rapid Fire Cannon.

Comps for Xerath:

  • Star Guardian/Sorcerers: Xerath (*), Syndra (*), Ahri, Neeko, Poppy, Zoe, Lux.
    • Swap the Poppy for Vel’Koz if you get a Star Guardian’s Charm.
  • Dark Star/Sorcerers: Xerath (*), Shaco (*), Lux, Mordekaiser, Jarvan, Karma, Lulu.
    • You can swap Jhin for Shaco as your other carry.

Second Carries to Pair with Xerath: Syndra (Star Guardian), Shaco or Jhin (Dark Star).

5. Neeko

This one is a little out of nowhere, but Neeko can actually function very well as your secondary carry in two of the strongest TFT comps of the meta: Star Guardian/Sorcerers and Slow Roll Protectors. Which comp you go depends more on items (AP for Star Guardian, attack speed/tank for Protectors) you have on your primary carry and whether they are contested, but Neeko at least allows you to flex between the two.

Build Neeko when: You start with a lot of mixed items that could go to Sorcerers or Protectors.

Key items: Morellonomicon.

Other items: Ionic Spark, QSS, Guardian Angel.

Comps for Neeko:

  • Star Guardian/Sorcerer: Neeko (*), Syndra (*), Ahri, Poppy, Zoe, Soraka, Lux, Xerath.
    • Swap Poppy for Vel’Koz if you can get a Star Guardian’s Charm.
  • Slow Roll Protectors: Neeko (*), Xin Zhao (*), Rakan, Jarvan, Karma, Lulu, Sona, Soraka.
    • If you don’t need four Mystics, drop Karma and Sona for two other Star Guardians (preferably Syndra/Ahri).

Second Carries to Pair with Neeko: Syndra (Star Guardians), Xin Zhao (Protector).
