The Return of Superweeks

Possibly the most exciting part of the announcement is the return of superweeks to European League of Legends for the first time since the 2014 Summer Split.

The opening weekend of the LEC Summer Split 2020 (Week 1) will include 15 games including hype match-ups like MAD Lions vs. G2 Esports and G2 Esports vs. Origen.

There will also be a superweek on the final weekend of the regular season (Week 8) which could be crucial in deciding the LEC’s top six and all-important playoffs seeds.

Back in the early days of the EU LCS, superweeks were the most thrilling portion of the regular season and often saw huge position swings in the standings and a ton of upsets.

With so many talented rosters bulking up the 2020 LEC Summer Split line-up, superweeks have the potential to contain several playoffs seeds deciding matches and exciting clashes between title-chasing rivals.
