Patch 10.9 brings two new Galaxies and a host of changes to TFT!

Hot off the press, your TFT patch notes for Patch 10.9 are ready for your consumption. In this patch we get a big change to champion and item drops, two new Galaxies, and whole cluster of changes (don’t worry that joke will land in a few seconds). Let’s break down all the changes!

New Galaxies

"Treasure Trove Every minion and monster in the game drops a loot orb."

Not gonna be able to hold all those items and gold! This Galaxy is going to accelerate games incredibly fast because you will have eight orbs dropped before you even get to the first PvE round! Even if you got all grey orbs and all those orbs had was the minimum amount of gold (2g) that means you are getting a free 16 gold right off the bat!

"Star Cluster All Tier 1/2/3 champions on carousels have 2 stars."

Another huge Galaxy change, this means that you will be getting a 2-star champion right off the bat. You could be three copies away from a 3-star champion if you get the same unit in the first two Carousels!

Obviously, this will make getting 3-stars easier in the Star Cluster Galaxy, but it may also present an interesting choice on later Carousels. Do you take another 2-star, or opt to go for a 1-star 4 or 5-cost unit?

Galaxy Odds

"Normal – 35% of games Treasure Trove – 12.5% of games Star Cluster – 12.5% of games Trade Sector – 10% of games The Neekoverse – 7.5% of games Lilac Nebula – 7.5% of games Medium Legends – 7.5% of games Superdense Galaxy – 7.5% of games"

I like that we now have updated knowledge of what the odds are for the new (and old) Galaxies. While some players might complain that normal games should be more frequent, I like having more variety in my game set since it separates good, informed players (like you fine readers) from casual players.

Also, someone is going to complain that the new Galaxies are coming up more frequently. Get over it, it’s two out of 100 games and Riot has the right to market their newest toys when everyone has to face the same circumstances.

Champion Drop Rates

"Level 3: 70/30/0/0/0% ⇒ 75/25/0/0/0% Level 4: 50/35/15/0/0% ⇒ 60/30/10/0/0% Level 5: 35/40/20/5/0% ⇒ 40/35/20/5/0% Level 6: 20/35/35/10/0% ⇒ 25/35/30/10/0% Level 7: 14/30/40/15/1% ⇒ 19/30/35/15/1%"

The long and short is that, across all levels, 1-cost units will be more available. 2-cost units will be less available at Levels 4 and 5, while 3-cost units will be less available at Levels 4, 6, and 7.

Item and Drop Changes

"Players can no longer sell units if doing so would cause an item to be deleted. Players can no longer open loot orbs if their item bench is full. Now all players drop at least 1 small orb in the first 3 PVE rounds."

These are all quality of life changes that shouldn’t really impact gameplay that heavily. Though getting at least one small orb in the first PvE rounds is nice to know for predictability.

Quicksilver Sash

"Shield duration: 15sec ⇒ 10sec"

A needed change, as this item was just always strong in every situation. It still will be, though, and I could imagine that it will be a staple in Patch 10.9.
