One of the most interesting champions in League of Legends, we break down which skins are the best on Vi!

The Piltover Enforcer may not be the protagonist of League of Legends, but Vi is certainly one of the game’s most recognizable champions. With a sizeable player base and a rich backstory it’s no wonder that she has received seven skins since her debut in December 2012.

As we have done for several other League of Legends champions, today we will be breaking down and ranking each of her skins. Which of the Piltover Enforcer’s skins will be the best? Let’s find out.

7. Warring Kingdom Vi

Cost: 1350 RP

Of all her Vi’s, this is one of the ugliest and it comes to us from maybe one of the least popular skin lines in League of Legends. The character model just looks sickly and green, with dark hues that fade against the backdrop of Summoner’s Rift. No new animations or effects (apart from the green/yellow indicator on her passive) and a relatively high cost makes this an easy pass.

6. Debonair Vi

Cost: 750 RP

One of her oldest skins, this also happens to be her cheapest. While the price tag makes this appetizing and the artwork/style of the champion is interesting, this skin is otherwise fairly bland. There are no new effects or interactions, so you should only go for this skin because you think it looks cool.

5. Heartbreaker Vi

Cost: 1350 RP

This skin has all the bells and whistles to justify the increased cost, like new effects on her abilities and a nice addition of sprinkling petals on her recall animation. This is a very well done skin.

The reason I don’t like it, though, is that the Heartseeker/Valentines skin aesthetic just doesn’t really fit with Vi. She’s supposed to be this brawling, rough-and-tumble enforcer, so it’s odd to see her get the feminine treatment. And it’s not as though it was done tongue-in-cheek, Riot really seemed to be leaning into the idea that Vi was going to be a cute love interest to some other champion and it just doesn’t work.

4. Demon Vi

Cost: 1350 RP

This is another skin where the idea and execution both work, but the theme doesn’t. Here, Vi is portrayed as a demon complete with purple skin and bat wings that open every time she dashes forward. The model and effects look amazing, but for whatever reason the whole concept of the Enforcer of Piltover transformed into a demon just doesn’t work for me.

3. Officer Vi

Cost: 975 RP

Now, on the other hand, this a case where the skin and the concept behind it work wonderfully with the champion. You have Vi decked out in a police uniform, red lights and sirens going whenever she dashes in, and she even has a baton that she twirls on recall. For an older skin (this was released in 2013) having this unique recall animation makes this worth buying.

2. PROJECT: Vi

Cost: 1350 RP

I know, I know, I’m a sucker for the PROJECT skins, but sometimes they just work. Transforming her clunky, metallic gauntlets made by some Piltover mechanic into futuristic, cybernetic gauntlets just made far too much sense for the champion. As a PROJECT skin, it of course comes with plenty of slick animations and effects on her strikes and dashes.

1. Neon Strike Vi

Cost: 975 RP

Her original skin, released back in 2012, has certainly stood the test of time. It’s really a testament that one or two cool things can just bring skins over top of all the others. In this case, that’s the recall animation.

Glitzy, glamorous, and perfectly futuristic, the recall animation on the Neon Strike skin can make you overlook the fact that it’s pretty basic in terms of other effects. That’s not to say that the rest of the skin isn’t top-notch, because it is. But the recall animation is just so clean that for the price you really cannot go wrong.
