League of Legends: The 5 Best Mid Laners on Patch 10.16
This is a list of the 5 best mid laners in League of Legends on Patch 10.16
Assassins, bruisers, mages. Every type of champion is welcome in League of Legends’ mid lane in Season 10, but the current meta tends towards assassins. The best mid laners on Patch 10.16 all possess the ability to instantly blow up a squishy carry and create a numbers advantage for their team in a skirmish.
On Patch 10.16, four mid laners received buffs but none of them make our top five list. Akali’s Five Point Strike damage was increased, Veigar’s magic resist was increased, Yasuo’s Last Breath damage was increased, and Ziggs’ Short Fuse damage was increased.
Here are the 5 best mid laners on Patch 10.16:
5) Vladimir
50.69% Win Rate | 5.5% Pick Rate | 14.0% Ban Rate
Vladimir finds success by navigating the Rift ahead of a teamfight and picking out vision-free areas to flank from. If played correctly, a well-time Hemoplague could be the difference between winning and losing a game.
He’s most vulnerable during the laning phase due to a massive 28-second cooldown on his only escape tool, Sanguine Pool. When facing Vladimir, attempt two quickfire ganks in order to punish this. When playing as Vladimir, save your Sanguine Pool until absolutely necessary.
4) Katarina
52.08% Win Rate | 6.3% Pick Rate | 6.9% Ban Rate
Never has slamming your keyboard and grabbing a pentakill been so easy. Obviously, Katarina’s main strength lies within teamfights due to her ability to reset cooldowns and dance around enemy champions, avoiding all forms of CC.
However, one area of the Sinister Blade’s kit that is often overlooked is her threat during the laning phase. Reaching level 3, jumping on her lane opponent, and casting Ignite is regularly enough to pick up an early kill and start a snowball.

3) Fizz
51.16% Win Rate | 5.9% Pick Rate | 12.0% Ban Rate
Once again, Fizz cements a place in the top five mid laners in the current meta. Despite offering very little crowd control or sustained damage, the Tidal Trickster can easily dictate the course of a teamfight by simply one-shotting an enemy carry and hopping around the following 5v4.
2) Kassadin
50.94% Win Rate | 6.6% Pick Rate | 27.1% Ban Rate
Solo queue is a wild, chaotic place. Games can often last for over 40 minutes despite all the game-ending objectives that have been added to the Rift of recent.
Long games mean scaling champions thrive, and no mid lane champion scales better than Kassadin. Upon reaching level 16, the Void Walker has a two-second Riftwalk cooldown and can instantly wipe the map of any squishy carry, single-handedly winning a skirmish for his team.
1) Zed
51.99% Win Rate | 12.6% Pick Rate | 36.8% Ban Rate
Zed’s resurgence into the League of Legends meta has been both loved and hated by the community.
Many are glad to see such a popular champion back to a strong state, diversifying the mid lane meta. However, some (mainly squishy marksman mains) would have preferred it if the slippery assassin had stayed in the shadows for a while longer.
