We break down TFT Patch 10.17 and discuss the newest galaxy coming to Teamfight Tactics!

The latest TFT patch isn’t a big one, but we will get a brand new galaxy along with some item and champion changes. Let’s break down everything that’s changed in Patch 10.17 for Teamfight Tactics!

Systems

Galaxies

"New Galaxy: Manatee’s Delight – All players receive a free spatula at the start of the game."

very interesting new wrinkle to TFT as players can get a spatula for free. This will allow players to go for funky comps (like Protector Darius) much earlier because they know they have that spatula. Otherwise, they can wait, hope to hit another spat, and get another free unit.

Items

Hand of Justice

"50% healing from damage done by both abilities and basic attacks ⇒ 45%"

I didn’t think Hand of Justice was a particularly problematic item after the mini-rework, but apparently I didn’t build it enough to see how OP it was. 5% less damage or healing should bring the item back into line.

Titan’s Resolve

"Max Stacks: 50 ⇒ 25%Still 2% damage per stacks and 25 Armor/MR at max"

Sword Breaker has just been a terrible item for a while now, so a buff to its chance to disarm hit opponents is welcome. This is actually a revert of the nerf the item got back in Patch 9.24b, back when this item was ridiculously strong, so we’ll have to see if Sword Breaker takes a spot atop the item food chain after this change.

Traits

Sniper

"Bonus Damage Per Hex: 10/18% ⇒ 9/16%"

Hope you all got your abuse of Astro/Snipers in because it’s going away. One of the most standard comps in the game since the mid-set update, we’re probably going to see the focus shift a bit more towards Mech and Dark Stars.

Tier 1 Champions

Jarvan IV

"Armor: 45 ⇒ 40"

Yet another nerf for J4, who has been one of the strongest supportive units in TFT for a while. Losing 5 armor is pretty big and could take him out of the S tier for early game units.

Poppy

"Magic Resistance: 30 ⇒ 35"

Just last patch we saw Poppy’s spell shield strength and spell damage get buffed. Riot really appears to be trying to make Candyland come back into the meta as this makes her better into mages even if she builds that Bramble Vest.

Tier 2 Champions

Blitzcrank

"Armor: 45 ⇒ 60"

If you thought a 5 armor nerf to Jarvan was going to hurt, just imagine how big a 15 armor buff will be to one of the strongest early game units. Blitz is going to be an absolute monster in Patch 10.16.

Tier 3 Champions

Cassiopeia

"Spell Damage: 700/1500/3000 ⇒ 700/1500/3500"

Did you miss seeing slow-roll Cassiopeia? Well it sure looks like she’s coming back after a significant buff to her 3-star spell’s damage.

Master Yi

"Spell Damage: 75/100/3000 ⇒ 70/95/145"

Someone out there found out about my super-not-so-secret Master Yi Slice and Dice tech and word has gotten out. Hopefully 5 AD won’t totally cripple it.

Neeko

"Spell Damage: 150/250/500 ⇒ 150/250/450"

50 damage off Neeko’s 3-star spell damage isn’t a huge nerf, but it will certainly take down one of the best defensive Protector in the game.

Shaco

"Armor: 25 ⇒ 20"

Shaco is currently running through the game thanks to his Dark Star status. He’s a great secondary carry, but he’s not OP as a unit. I think this is an unnecessary nerf.

Tier 4 Champions

Riven

"Health: 800 ⇒ 850Magic Resistance: 20 ⇒ 30"

In the same patch that Poppy is getting buffed and right after Riven got some buffs, she’s also getting a bit more tankiness? Sorc Riven could easily be on its way back.

Tier 5 Champions

Gangplank

"Spell Damage: 550/700/9001 ⇒ 525/675/9001"

This is a bit of a walk-back of Gangplank’s buffs in the last patch, a mid-point between where he was before and after the buffs. I’d expect GP will be closer to his most recent strong status in Patch 10.17, which is where he should be, honestly.

Next. Everything you need to know about BBQ Rumble. dark

Xerath

"Spell Damage: 300/400/2500 ⇒ 320/440/2500"

Xerath has long been an underrated Sorcerer and Dark Star unit, so getting a nice buff to his damage should do wonders to thrust him into the spotlight.
