League of Legends will add new and updated Legendary items during Preseason 2021

League of Legends Preseason 2021 is almost upon us with the development and balance team releasing their first major update since revealing their gameplay plans earlier in the year. This announcement has introduced the community to a HUGE list of new Mythic and Legendary items along with a ton of item updates heading to the game later this year.

More from Blog of Legends

The goal of this massive item overhaul is to reshape the League of Legends gameplay experience while removing some outdated items and adding new mechanics to Summoner’s Rift. It also gives the dev team an excuse/opportunity to improve item graphics without adding too much confusion.

Our in-depth look at the batch of items will include a breakdown of each NEW Legendary item and suggestions of which champions may benefit from them. After this, every other Legendary item will be listed for you to form your own opinions on.

Here is a FULL list of every new, updated, evolved, removed, and maintained Legendary item in League of Legends ahead of Preseason 2021:

New Legendary Items

The Collector

"3000 gold+45 Attack Damage+20% Critical Strike Chance+18 LethalityContract Killer: If you deal damage that would leave an enemy below 5% health, kill them. Kills grant you an additional 25 gold."

This item is perfect for a champion that wants a mixture of early game damage and scaling, particularly with the direction Critical Strike Chance is taking in Preseason 2021. Not only that, but The Collector also helps players that struggle to farm and always accidentally leave minions on 1HP.

Champions who love this item: Senna, Yasuo, Yone

Navori Quickblade

"3400 Gold+60 Attack Damage+20% Critical Strike Chance+30 Ability HasteNimble Strikes: Your critical strikes with Attacks reduce your non-Ultimate ability cooldowns by 20% of their remaining cooldown."

The League of Legends balance team recently removed Spear of Shojin from the game as it was considered too overpowered due to the cooldown reduction it granted. Now, the item has been effectively reintroduced in the form of Navori Quickblade but with Critical Strike Chance rather than Health.

Champions who love this item: Jax, Master Yi, Renekton

Force of Nature

"2900 gold+350 Health+55 Magic Resist+7% Move SpeedRhythm of Ionia: Taking Ability damage grants you +6 Move Speed and +4 Magic Resist for 5 seconds (stacks up to 5 times; 1 stack per unique ability)."

Force of Nature is a tank item for champions that lack gap closers yet need to close the gap to their opponents in order to land vital crowd control abilities. It is a situational item that could become overpowered if used against a composition filled with spell-casters.

Champions who love this item: Illaoi, Olaf, Sett

Serpent’s Fang

"2800 gold+60 Attack Damage+18 LethalityShieldbreaker: You deal 300% additional damage to Shields."

This item is clearly being introduced as a hard counter to compositions with heavy shielding. Burst champions like Kha’Zix, Nocturne, and Zed will finally have the opportunity to shut down enemy squishies even with Janna, Karma, and Lulu providing huge shields.

Champions who love this item: Kha’Zix, Nocturne, Zed

Horizon Focus

"3000 gold+100 Ability PowerFocus Fire: Damaging a champion with an Ability at over 850 range or Immobilizing them reveals the target and increases your damage dealt to them by 15% for 6 seconds."

Long-range mages are set to receive a big boost with the introduction of Horizon Focus, an item that increases damage to targets hit with multiple from over 850 units away.

Champions who love this item: Lux, Vel’Koz, Zoe

Cosmic Drive

"3000 gold+60 Ability Power+200 Health+30 Ability HasteSpelldance: Dealing damage with abilities grants 10 (+20% Ability Haste) Move Speed for 4 seconds."

Cosmic Drive is an item that provides a Move Speed boost after landing abilities. This will be particularly impactful on champions that need to stick to their opponent to land spells and increase DPS but lack those tools in their own kit.

Champions who love this item: Aurelion Sol, Ekko, Ryze

Demonic Embrace

"3000 gold+80 Ability Power+400 HealthPassive – Azakana Gaze: Dealing Ability damage to a champion causes them to take 2% of their maximum Health as magic damage every second for 4 seconds. You gain 20 armor and magic resist while enemies are afflicted (+5 for each additional champion affected)."

Legendary items do not get more unique and effective as Demonic Embrace. Landing spells on multiple targets gives the champion increased armor and magic resist while also dealing 8% of the target’s maximum health as magic damage over 4 seconds. A huge defensive and offensive boost all in one.

Champions who love this item: Aurelion Sol, Lillia, Singed

Serylda’s Grudge

"3000 gold+50 Attack Damage+30% Armor Penetration+20 Ability HasteThe Grudge: Your damaging Abilities slow by 30% for 1 second."

Serylda’s Grudge provides Armor Penetration, Cooldown Reduction, and a slow for champions that struggle to keep pace and cut down tanks. However, to make the most out of this item, the champion using it must have a selection of ranged abilities up their sleeve.

Champions who love this item: Gnar, Lucian, Yasuo

Silverweave Legplates

"3000 gold+35 Attack Damage+200 Health+35 Magic ResistActive – Quicksilver: Remove all crowd control debuffs and gain +40% Tenacity and Slow Resistance for 3 seconds. (90 second cooldown)"

Once again, the dev team have created a new item that levels the playing field in terms of utility across the board. QSS was previously an item that marksmen were happy to purchase while other roles were often forced into it despite its awkward stats. Now, AD bruisers can just pick up Silverweave Legplate and see no major impact on their build path.

Champions who love this item: Qiyana, Talon, Zed

Chempunk Chainsword

"2700 gold+45 Attack Damage+200 Health+15 Ability HasteCursed: Dealing physical damage applies 40% Grievous Wounds to enemy champions for 2 seconds. If the target is below 50% Health, this effect is increased to 60% Grievous Wounds."

Physical damage bruisers were forced to pick up Executioner’s Calling despite having no real final item to work towards in previous seasons. Now, they have Chempunk Chainsword, an item that grants Grievous Wounds while also offering some key stats.

Champions who love this item: Jax, Master Yi, Wukong

Chemtech Fumigator

"2100 gold+45 Ability Power+15 Ability Haste+100% Base Mana RegenerationCursed: Dealing magic damage applies 40% Grievous Wounds to enemy champions for 2 seconds. Immobilizing enemy champions applies 60% Grievous Wounds instead."

While Chemtech Fumigator could be built on most mages, it would come as no surprise if supports were forced to pick it up in order to reduce enemy healing as they can make the most of the increased 60% Grievous Wounds passive.

Champions who love this item: Nami, Lulu, Lux

Staff of Flowing Water

"2100 gold+60 Ability Power+15% Heal and Shield Power+150% Base Mana RegenerationRiptide: Healing or Shielding an ally grants you both 15% Move Speed and 20-40 (ally lv 1-18) Ability Power for 3 seconds."

Staff of Flowing Water is pretty similar to Ardent Censer as it can be purchased as a first item for enchanting supports who love Ability Power and Mana Regen. Enchanting supports could become the most useful member of the team if they pair Ardent Censer with Staff of Flowing Water for an incredible amount of utility.

Champions who love this item: Janna, Karma, Nami

Ancient Runestone

"1000 goldLevel 13 required to purchase.Control: This item can store up to 3 purchased Control Wards.Visions of Ixtal: If you have placed 20 Stealth Wards, transform this item into Ixtali Wardstone."

Ixtali Wardstone
Upgrades from Ancient Runestone

"+25 Ability HasteControl: This item can store up to 3 purchased Control Wards.Visions of Ixtal: Increase your Stealth Ward and Control Ward caps by 1."

Ixtali Wardstone Upgrade

"2100 gold+40 Ability Haste+10% Move SpeedControl: This item can store up to 3 purchased Control Wards.Visions of Ixtal: Increase your Stealth Ward and Control Ward caps by 1."

Warding and stalling are back on the menu in Preseason 2021 with the opportunity to store more wards and place more wards with Ixtali Warstone.

Ancient Runestone can be purchased by any support player who is confident in the effectiveness of their ward placing, while the Ixtali Wardstone Upgrade should probably be saved until full build due to the lack of stats on offer.
