League of Legends: New Jungle Items in Preseason 2021
New jungle items are heading to League of Legends in Preseason 2021
Earlier in the week, the League of Legends development team released a huge batch of information on the primary focus of Preseason 2021, an in-depth item overhaul. Mythic and Legendary items were undoubtedly the most exciting part of the announcement but there were also some interesting updates on new jungle items heading to Summoner’s Rift next season.

Following on from last year’s support item overhaul, the development team are looking to make similar adjustments to the jungle items for Season 11. Similar to support items, the new jungle items will be a one-time purchase that will upgrade based on certain conditions achieved during the game.
Doran’s Forgeheart and Doran’s Hailseed will have very similar stats and passives to Hunter’s Machete and Hunter’s Talisman but can be changed throughout the season to fine-tune jungle experience and gold income.
Challenging Smite and Chilling Smite will remain a part of the jungle role but rather than making your choice ten minutes into the game, you will be forced to choose one of the two during your first purchase.
Here are the two new jungle items set to be released on the Public Beta Environment (PBE) over the next few weeks:
Doran’s Forgeheart
"350 gold+10% Omnivamp vs. monstersTooth & Nail: Damaging monsters burns them for (2% Bonus Health) (+10% Ability Power) (+5% Bonus Attack Damage) magic damage over 5 seconds. Monsters who would die to the burn die immediately.Ashen Path: Smiting 5 times consumes this item to upgrade your Smite to Challenging Smite and grant the effects of this item permanently.Huntsman: Killing Large Monsters grants 60 bonus experience. The first Large Monster killed grants 150 bonus experience instead.Leyline Walker: Regenerate up to 8-15 (lv 1-18) mana per second when in the Jungle or River, based on missing mana."
Doran’s Hailseed

The two new jungle items will be 350 gold, just like the current jungle items, allowing a Refillable Potion, Rejuvenation Bead, or three Health Potions to be purchased alongside the starter item.
Tooth & Nail will also retain its place but with a clarity and gameplay improvement in the form of instant death for jungle monsters that will die to the burn.
Frostworn Path represents the biggest change to jungle items as clearly players will no longer have to manually upgrade their item as the game progresses. In fact, after smiting five times the item will be consumed opening up an inventory slot for more effective purchases during the later stages of the game.
Other passives include bonus experience for killing large monsters and mana regeneration in the jungle, discouraging players from taking the item in lane, although that would be misguided regardless of this passive.
Ultimately, the new jungle items present a small gameplay change but a nice quality of life update for junglers from Preseason 2021 onwards. Spending 650 gold to upgrade a Smite was never a fun feeling, so removing it is a positive change from the League of Legends dev team.
