We break down the final games of the Worlds 2020 play-in stage between Unicorns of Love and SuperMassive.

Worlds 2020 has now concluded the play-in stage, with the last two teams qualifying for the group stage. Unicorns of Love, the representative of the CIS, have qualified for the Worlds group stage after their victory over the TCL’s Papara SuperMassive. Let’s give our take on each of the games with the three-word game as well as our MVP for the series.

3 Word Recaps

*The winning team is in bold

Game 1: Unicorns of Love vs. SuperMassive – Rat atat tat

Even though AHaHaCiK had the sexier scoreline (8/1/8 on Nidalee), it was Gadget’s Twitch pick that really carried UoL in teamfights.

Game 2: SuperMassive vs. Unicorns of Love – Emperor’s new clothes

SuperMassive’s mid Bolulu played Azir in Game 2 but, much like the Emperor in the Emperor’s New Clothes, it turned out the Emperor of Shurima was naked and useless. Bolulu went 1/6/5 and did only 13,500 damage. For reference, that was less damage than both junglers and only 3,000 more damage than the enemy Malphite.

Game 3: Unicorns of Love vs. SuperMassive – Vayne mid wins?

Sett mid has been a fairly popular pick in the play-in stage of Worlds 2020, and today UoL decided to pull out a counter pick in Vayne mid. Against multiple melee carries (Sion, Lillia, Sett), the Vayne had a field day, going 7/3/5 and dealing 10,000 damage more than the next-closes player in the game.

MVP of the Series

Lev “Nomanz” Yakshin (Unicorns of Love, Mid)

You could give almost any member of the Unicorns of Love this award, but Nomanz smurfing on Kassadin in Game 2 sealed this one for me. Fun fact, in this three-game series Nomanz only died six times but put up 21 kills. If this guy isn’t getting offers in the LEC or LCS next year, I don’t know what’s wrong with teams.
