We break down all the action in Day 3 of the Group Stage of Worlds 2020.

The teams of the LCS were still searching for their first win on Day 3 of the group stage. Meanwhile, teams in the LEC, LPL, and LCK were jockeying for position in their groups and looking to solidify their position for a possible quarterfinals spot. Let’s look to see how Worlds 2020 is looking following the third day of action.

3 Word Recaps

*The winning team is in bold

Game 1: Machi Esports vs. G2 Esports – Playing with meal?

This game was a lot closer than most G2 fans would have figured, with Machi staying relatively close in the first 20 minutes before blowing the game wide open with a teamfight win at the 23-minute mark.

Game 2: Team Liquid vs. Suning – That was painful

Just like yesterday, Team Liquid put up barely any fight (with only two kills in 32 minutes) and allowed themselves to get slowly choked out by the LPL’s three-seed.

Game 3: Damwon vs. PSG Talon – Can’t stop Nuguri

PSG Talon immediately attacked Damwon’s top laner with two early kills on the fairly immobile Kennen. However, Nuguri proved too strong in teamfights, ending the game 4/3/7 and leading all players in damage dealt.

Game 4: JD Gaming vs. Rogue – Stop hooking Renekton

As much as Vander smurfed on his Rakan back in Day 1, his Blitzcrank today was slightly less impressive. Hooking the enemy’s tanky top laner to get him a free engage onto your backline isn’t exactly what you’re looking for.

Game 5: – FlyQuest vs. Unicorns of Love – NA finally wins

Don’t jump up and down spraying champagne, LCS fans. FlyQuest barely squeaked out this win over the CIS representative thanks to some pretty bad late game macro. And let’s hope Solo erases that performance from his memory.

Game 6: Top Esports vs. DRX – JackeyLove is ridiculous

On Senna of all picks, JackeyLove did almost 50% of his team’s damage this game. There’s a reason I rated him the second-best ADC at Worlds 2020.

MVPs of Group Stage Day 1

Yu “JackeyLove” Wen-Bo (Top Esports, ADC)

He had a 1,100 gold lead over Deft at 15 minutes, did over 900 damage per minute, had 100% kill participation, and ended with a 6/1/9 scoreline. Let me say it again: JackeyLove is RIDICULOUS.

Tristan “PowerOfEvil” Schrage (FlyQuest, Mid)

There may not have been a bigger 1v9 performance from anyone at the group stage of Worlds so far than today’s game by PowerofEvil. His Syndra was filthy as he went 9/3/3 and did over 36k damage in a 36 minute game.

Tang “huanfeng” Huan-Feng (Suning, ADC)

You could have easily given it to his lane partner SwordArt, but the two of them straight up dumpstered Team Liquid’s bot lane of CoreJJ/Tactical from the first second of the game.
