3 Word Recaps

*The winning team is in bold

Game 1: PSG Talon vs. Damwon – PSG Moral Victory

I mean…at least this game wasn’t a total stomp. PSG did get out to an early lead and Tank even solo killed Showmaker at one point. That’s about the best PSG could hope for because Damwon immediately overtook the PCS representatives and steamrolled them for an easy victory.

Game 2: Rogue vs. JD Gaming – Zoom Zoom Zoom

JDG top laner Zoom just completely obliterated Rogue’s hopes and dreams with Camille this game, going 6/2/7. Finn did his best to hold on, but he was simply out-classed.

Game 3: Damwon vs. Rogue – Bambi’s mom dies

The story of this game was between the two junglers. Inspired went 2/6/3 on Lillia and didn’t quite look comfortable on the dreamy deer. On the other hand, Canyon played the part of the hunter in the movie Bambi, killing Inspired over and over on Graves.

Game 4: JD Gaming vs. PSG Talon – Worlds biggest upset

This might be a bit hyperbolic, considering we saw LGD lose to wildcard regions in the play-in stage, but PSG Talon beating JDG might be the biggest shocker of Worlds 2020 so far.

Game 5: – PSG Talon vs. Rogue – PSG’s winning streak

A team that came into play-ins with three subs on their roster for the first game of Worlds, the fact that PSG Talon not only made it out of play-ins as the top seed in their group but then ended their Worlds run on a two-game winning streak is impressive. They ended Worlds 2020 with a second-straight stunner, knocking off a Rogue team that can only be called a massive disappointment.

Game 6: JD Gaming vs. Damwon – Gods can bleed

This game had no implications in terms of seeding, as JD’s loss to PSG Talon slotted them into the #2 seed and Damwon into the #1 slot. Nevertheless, in a back-and-forth match JD Gaming proved that Damwon can be beaten by attacking Nuguri and making Damwon’s bot lane beat them.

MVPs of Group Stage Day 6

Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu (Damwon, Jungle)

Canyon proved that he’s one of the best junglers in the world with his play today. In particular, his Graves play might be the most ridiculous of anyone in the tournament. He went 3/1/7 against PSG Talon and then dominated Rogue by going 13/1/4 on the Outlaw.

Zhang “Zoom” Xing-Ran (JD Gaming, Top)

What Canyon was to Graves on Day 6, Zoom was to Camille. He ran over Finn (6/2/7) in their win over Rogue, but his most impressive performance was unquestionably the final game win over Damwon. He went toe-to-toe with the best top laner in the world, Nuguri, and dominated on the Steel Shadow, ending the game 12/6/6 and the most damage dealt on his team.

Wong “Unified” Chun Kit (PSG Talon, ADC)

In PSG’s two wins on Day 6, they got some great performances from across the board but Unified was unquestionably their best player. He led all players in damage in both of PSG’s wins, going 6/0/3 on Caitlyn to take down JDG and then 4/0/6 on Aphelios against Rogue.
