We break down all the changes coming to TFT in Patch 10.22!.

More changes are due in Patch 10.22 for Teamfight Tactics. While the ranked season for League of Legends ends this patch, the show goes on for the TFT ranked season, so don’t feel pressure to hit Gold, Plat, Diamond, or whatever rank this patch. Still, having a good handle on the latest patch notes will help you in your quest to climb and here are the five biggest changes coming next patch.

1. Chosen Updates

"There are a couple of traits that have an unintentional anti-synergy with the chosen mechanic as they lose value with less units on the board. We’re changing the rules of those chosen to count as two units for the sake of their traits.Cultist Chosen now count as 2 Cultists and will grant Galio double the amount of star levels (e.g., a two-star Elise will grant Galio four star levels instead of two).Keeper Chosen now count as 2 Keepers and grant double the amount of shieldsDazzlerAttack Damage Reduction: 50% ⇒ 50/80%Duration: 5/15 seconds ⇒ 8 secondsNinja (4) Attack Damage and Spell Power: 150 ⇒ 140Sharpshooter damage reduction per ricochet: 65/50/35% ⇒ 55/50/45%"

This change has been a long time overdue, because there were Chosen traits that simply were not good. For instance, having two Keepers was just worse than having one Chosen Keeper (because you could only shield one area as opposed to two and didn’t get the chance to overlap shields). Riot has now addressed these problem issues so that when you have a Chosen unit for one of these traits, you’ll actually get the full benefits of that synergy.

2. Bye-Bye Ahri

"Spirit Bomb Damage: 500/750/3000 ⇒ 475/675/3000"

This is a massive nerf to Ahri, who is one of the best units in TFT this patch. While 25 damage off her Spirit Bomb at 1-star isn’t huge, the 75 damage she’s losing at 2-stars is massive because it’s unlikely players will be able to get a 3-star Ahri without a Chosen and/or Neeko’s help.

3. Sett Buffs

"Chosen Bonus: Health ⇒ Spell PowerSpell Primary Target Damage: 35/45% ⇒ 40/60% max HealthNunu and Willump will no longer eat Sett if he still needs to do sit ups.Rabadon’s Deathcap Spell Power: 70 ⇒ 75"

These are some pretty nice buffs to Sett, particularly in the primary target spell damage (5/15% increased max health damage). The fact that he’s also getting more spell power on his Chosen bonus is also fantastic, since you were probably taking him with Brawlers (likely in the Brawlywood comp) and he had enough health stacked, so this just maxes his damage even more.

The Rabadon’s spell power buff might seem to be a bit out of place here, but the item is actually broken on Sett. It makes that ult of his a massive nuke that can single-handedly change the tide of a fight.

4. Vi is Maybe Good?

"Chosen Bonus: Health ⇒ Max Mana ReductionSpell Damage 250/400/600 ⇒ 250/400/800Armor Shred Duration: 6 ⇒ 8 seconds"

Vi has consistently been one of the weakest 2-cost units in TFT, so it’s not surprising that Riot is throwing a bunch of buffs her way in Patch 10.22. However, I don’t think these buffs will be all that effective. Yes, she will have reduced max mana if you get Chosen Vi, but I don’t necessarily think that makes her good.

The spell damage increase at 3-stars is similarly not good, because she’s just so underwhelming as a unit. Finally, the increased armor shred duration doesn’t make those other buffs worth it because it then relies on Vi having damage dealers to take advantage, because her damage is so low. Maybe she can be a more viable frontline unit in certain comps, but she’s still probably one of the worst Brawlers and units in the game.

5. Duelists and Sharpshooters are Still OP

"Vayne Silver Bolts Bonus True Damage: 40/75/125 ⇒ 50/90/140Fiora Chosen Bonus: Health ⇒ Max Mana Reduction Runaan’s Hurricane Bolt Damage: 75% ⇒ 100% Attack DamageStatikk ShivDamage: 75 ⇒ 80Bonus Damage: 175 ⇒ 240Fixed a bug where it could sometimes target invalid units (ie: during GA revive or Sett sit-ups)Zeke’s Herald Attack Speed: 40% ⇒ 35%"

I really thought that these two comps were going to get some attention in Patch 10.22, but it appears that they will remain among the strongest comps in Teamfight Tactics. No nerfs to problem units like Jinx, Yasuo, Jax (though his key item Locket was nerfed in the 10.21b Patch), Jhin, or Kalista. Items like Hand of Justice, Spear of Shojin, and Infinity Edge (which also makes Akali so terrifying) are untouched.

In fact, a few of the lesser Duelists (Fiora) and Sharpshooters (Vayne) are getting buffed, as are some of their items (Ruunan’s, Shiv). The only nerf I see to either of these comps is the reduced attack speed on Zeke’s, which is barely a nerf since Zeke’s isn’t a prioritized item for either comp.
