League of Legends: Ranking All the Best Malphite Skins
By Josh Tyler
Malphite may rock in his base skin, but he also has some awesome skins in his collection!
Malphite may be one of the most “noob-friendly” champions in League of Legends, and is certainly a fun top laner to play. His character model, though, leaves a little left to be desired. Luckily for players, if you want to play the Shard of the Monolith, he has ten skins to choose from and we’re ranking every single one of them.

10. Obsidian Malphite
Price: 975 RP
Malphite has a lot of skins that are coats of paint, but at least Obsidian somewhat attempts to refine the champion model with this skin. However, there are no new animations or effects and a slightly-refined champion model doesn’t justify the 975 RP price when some of his other, simple skins are much cheaper.
9. Marble Malphite
Price: 520 RP
Case in point, his Marble skin is literally nothing other than the rock painted white. It only ranks higher than the Obsidian skin because of the cost factor.
8. Shamrock Malphite
Price: 520 RP
Malphite painted green, rather than white. Depending on your color palate preference, if you swapped this skin with the Marble skin I wouldn’t fault you. They’re basically the same with a different coat of paint.
7. Coral Reef Malphite
Price: 750 RP
It pains me to put the Coral Reef skin this low, because the champion model is one of the best. It looks gorgeous and the purple effects are top-notch, in my opinion. Unfortunately, the skin doesn’t offer any effects or new animations to put it above the other Malphite skins, but this is a great pick if it becomes available.
6. Odyssey Malphite
Price: 1350 RP
Now we get into the higher-cost skins and Odyssey is definitely the one that leaves the most to be desired. The champion model itself is very nice, as is the recall animation, but the effects on the abilities are just plain ugly. The color scheme just doesn’t work and the effects aren’t great as a result.
5. Dark Star Malphite
Price: 1350 RP
Similar to the Odyssey skin, I don’t love the color scheme for Malph and as a result the new effects and animations aren’t particularly attractive. One thing the Dark Star skin does have going for it, though, is the fact that its recall animation might be one of Malphite’s best in the game.
4. Ironside Malphite
Price: 975 RP
Always got to have one good value skin towards the top of these rankings, and the Ironside skin is definitely the pick for Malphite. The clanky, clunky feel on the skin works really well for him and it even comes with some new animations to boot! It’s pricy for a “value” skin, but this works wonderfully.
3. Glacial Malphite
Price: 1350 RP
A lot of people love this skin. I am not one of them.
I get the appeal, the theme is unique, the color scheme looks nice on Malphite, and the effects on his abilities are all very distinct from the base skin. That being said, this skin has always looked a bit clunky to me. If it was discounted to 975 RP, I’d be much higher on the skin, but when compared to the other 1350 skins above it I can’t rank the Glacial skin much higher than this.
2. FPX Malphite
Price: 1350 RP
Given to recognize FunPlus Phoenix mid laner Doinb’s contribution to the team’s 2018 World Championship, Doinb actually picked Malphite for the skin because he is his wife’s favorite champion. That story and sentimentality are nice and the skin itself is really cool looking.
The look of a molten rock is done way better on this skin than the Obsidian one, the color scheme and effects look gorgeous and I love the recall animation. My favorite effect of this skin is when you ult, the FPX logo briefly appears in the smashed area.
1. Mecha Malphite
Price: 1350 RP
The perfect Malph skin does exist and it is the Mecha skin. Everything about this skin just works from the color scheme, which makes him look like a cross between a toy and an actual Transformer, to all the futuristic effects. Comparing this skin to the Ironside skin and it really does look like the same champion from the future, and all the effects bear that out. This is the best Malphite skin, easily.
