16. LNG Esports
Roster
Chang “M1kuya” Xiao
Lee “Tarzan” Seung-yong
Xie “icon” Tian-Yu
Wang “Light” Guang-Yu
Liao “Iwandy” Ding-Yang
Star Player
By a clear mile, it’s the jungler Tarzan. The former Griffin jungler made the move over to China last offseason, but unfortunately ended up on a team with out a lot of weapons.
Preview
LNG managed to acquire a superstar jungler, but he’s surrounded by a lot of young (M1kuya) or underwhelming (icon and Light) talent. I don’t think Tarzan is quite at the level that he can carry these players to the playoffs. If he does that’s a testament to him.
15. Rare Atom
Roster
Dai “Cube” Yi
Lu “Leyan” Jue
Chu “FoFo” Chun-Lan
Hu “iBoy” Xian-Zhao
Hu “Maestro” Jian-Xin
Star Player
It’s a toss up between mid laner FoFo and jungler Leyan, who was a part of that 2018 World Champion team with iG. I’ll give the edge to FoFo, just because Rare Atom has a sub for Leyan in place with Aix.
Preview
A rebranding of Vici Gaming, the team parted with legendary coach Kkoma in the offseason, but unfortunately seems destined for another underwhelming season. In particular, that bot lane of iBoy and Maestro is going to be brutal to watch.
14. Victory Five
Roster
Xie “Langx” Zhen-Ying
Wei “Weiwei” Bo-Han
Li “Mole” Hao-Yan
Wang “y4” Nong-Mo
Guo “ppgod” Peng
Star Player
Their support, ppgod, who (aside from having a hilarious name) actually proved to be a decent laner despite being anchored to a terrible ADC in y4.
Preview
This is a team with a few names that western fans might know, like Langx and ppgod (get your minds out of the gutter). But one interesting player to watch is actually Weiwei, who swapped from ADC to jungle last year and actually showed a lot of promise. Unfortunately, this team just completely lacks firepower in the mid and ADC roles, which relegates them to the bottom of the pack.
13. TT
Roster
Xia “Chelizi” Han-Xi
Wang “Xiaopeng” Peng
Huang “Twila” Ting-Wei
Lee “Samd” Jae-hoon
Wang “Teeen” Yao-Ji
Star Player
AD Carry Samd is really the only consistent member of TT heading into the 2021 season.
Preview
TT (formerly Dominus) is a team with a lot of questions on the top side of the map. The team has a jungler and mid (Bless and Captain) waiting in the wings, and I fear they’ll probably be swapping those positions in and out constantly. Teeen and Chelizi, though more solidified in the roster, also have major concerns.
