Teamfight Tactics Patch 11.4 was teased as the “Festival Remix,” bringing a fresh new remix of TFT to Club 2. Unfortunately, the biggest remix Patch 11.4 is bringing is fundamental changes to the Chosen mechanic and 1-star units that will undoubtedly flip the meta on its head. Let’s see how this latest patch flips Teamfight Tactics and what the five biggest changes of Patch 11.4 are.

1. Lucky Lanterns

"Stage 3 LanternIt is no longer possible to get 2 Loaded Dice or 2 Target DummiesStage 4 LanternIt is no longer possible to get 2 Loaded Dice or 2 Target DummiesIt is no longer possible to get 3 Item Components"

Big changes to the Lucky Lanterns, which honestly shouldn’t massively impact the TFT meta. You really shouldn’t be banking on Lucky Lanterns when coming up with your comp since you don’t know what the lanterns will bring or when they will arive. These changes are big, though, because they remove a lot of power from the mechanic, which is nice.

2. Leaving Brawlywood

More from Blog of Legends

Brawler

"Health: 400/700/1000/1600 ⇒ 400/700/1000/1400Attack Damage: 10/20/60/120 ⇒ 10/20/40/80"

Elderwood

"Armor and Magic Resist: 15/25/40 ⇒ 15/20/30Attack Damage and Spell Power: 5/10/20 ⇒ 5/10/15"

Nunu

"Consume Damage: 450/650/1800 ⇒ 450/700/1500"

Shyvana

"Health: 750 ⇒ 700Magic Resist: 80 ⇒ 60Burn Damage: 150/300/600 ⇒ 125/250/500"

A staple comp of TFT Set 4, the Brawlers/Elderwood comp (Brawlywood) was particularly strong in previous patches. You could run the comp with Xayah, Shyvana, Sett, and/or Nunu as the primary carries. This incredibly flexible comp is basically getting thrown in the trash in Patch 11.4, as the two primary traits and two of the four carries got significant nerfs.

3. Back from War(lords)

Warlord

"Health: 250/500/850 ⇒ 250/400/700Spell Power: 25/50/85 ⇒ 25/40/70"

Nidalee

"Bugfix nerf: fixed a bug where the range calculation was adding 1 extra Hex of distanceJavelin Toss Damage: 225/300/600 ⇒ 100/150/250Javelin Toss Bonus Damage per Hex: 20% ⇒ 80%"

Katarina

"Death Lotus number of targets: 4/6/8 ⇒ 4/5/6Death Lotus total Spell Damage: 600/900/1650 ⇒ 600/900/1500"

Tryndamere

"Spinning Slash now looks for targets in a slightly larger range to spin towardsSpinning Slash dash speed increasedMana: 50/100 ⇒ 60/100"

Warlords was another very strong comp in Patch 11.3 and are also getting nerfs to both the trait and the two primary carries – Katarina and Nidalee. Once again, this is probably going to be the end of this comp going forward.

4. Statikk Shiv Buffs

"No longer deals bonus damage to ShieldsCan now critically strikeCrits reduce the Magic Resist of targets hit by 60% for 6 secondsDamage: 80 ⇒ 60Targets Hit: 4/5/6 ⇒ 3"

Statikk Shiv is an under-used item, which has caused Riot to do a mini-rework on the item. The fact that the item can now critically strike is a huge advantage because it allows assassins and crit builders to use it. It’s also big that it reduces the MR of its targets because this could allow mixed comps with AP and AD threats to utilize the item.

5. Chosen Changes

Chosen

"Base Odds: 33% ⇒ 50%Rolling Odds for Level 4: 60/40/0/0/0% ⇒ 80/20/0/0/0%Bonus Spell Power: 30 ⇒ 15Bonus Attack Damage: 20 ⇒ 10Bonus Mana Reduction: 25% ⇒ 15%Bonus Health: 400 ⇒ 300 (The bonus 200 health baseline that Chosens receive just for being Chosen is not affected here)"

Easily the biggest changes to Teamfight Tactics coming in Patch 11.4, Chosen are getting a massive adjustment. At Level 4, you’re now far more likely to get 1-star Chosens, and the base odds for getting a Chosen in a given pool are increasing. This is ultimately going to mean that players are probably going to grab 1-star Chosens to lock in their comps early.
