Last week, teams like FPX, G2, DWG KIA, and EDG topped the global team tier list. For FPX, it was actually a bad week, as they lost series to Team WE and RNG, both solid but not exceptional teams. EDG also dropped a series in LPL action, to a sneaky-strong Invictus Gaming. All of this means there is a new number one atop our team tier list.

Tier 1 – Worlds Contenders

1. G2 Esports
2. EDward Gaming
3. DWG KIA
4. FunPlus Phoenix

G2 takes over the top spot in the tier list, thanks to the sub-par weeks from FPX and EDG, both of whom were ahead of the LEC’s best team last week. In the 4th slot, DWG KIA gains a little ground thanks to their win over T1, overtaking FPX after their lackluster week.

Our global team tier list looks which pro teams have a shot to win or make Worlds 2021!

Tier 2 – Outside Contenders

5. Rogue
6. Rare Atom
7. Team Liquid
8. MAD Lions

More from Blog of Legends

Rogue is right on DWG KIA’s heels after their 2-0 (granted, it was against Astralis and Schalke 04). Rare Atom and Team Liquid remain right behind them. Even though TL is not first in the LCS, their overall strength throughout the year (including Lock-In) and the individual talent they’ve shown keeps them as a legitimate threat and NA’s best hope (again).

Tier 3 – Group Stage

9. Team WE
10. Top Esports
11. Cloud9
12. Gen.G
13. RNG
14. Hanwha Life Esports
15. T1
16. SK Gaming

SK Gaming and RNG move into the third tier of teams after their strong weeks in the LEC and LPL respectively. All of these teams could be legitimate threats to make it to the group stage at Worlds from their regions.

Tier 4 – Maybe a Worlds Run

17. JD Gaming
18. Suning
19. Invictus Gaming
20. 100 Thieves
21. LNG Esports
22. Fnatic
23. Victory Five
24. TSM
25. Dignitas
26. Evil Geniuses
27. Misfits
28. DRX
29. Bilibili Gaming
30. Schalke 04
31. Afreeca Freecs
32. KT Rolster

Invictus Gaming, Fnatic, and Victory Five all drop out of their third-tier spots down into the fourth tier. I’m not sure all these teams will remain here (especially a JD Gaming or Fnatic), but they need to elevate their play if these teams wish to have a shot at a legitimate Worlds run.

Tier 5 – Trash

33. eStar
34. TT Gaming
35. NS Redforce
36. Immortals
37. LGD Gaming
38. CLG
39. FlyQuest
40. Rogue Warriors
41. Excel
42. Fredit BRION
43. Oh My God
44. Liiv SANDBOX
45. Astralis
46. Team Vitality
47. Golden Guardians

Sorry if you’re a fan of the teams in here. It could always be worse, I suppose, but these teams need massive change if they want to even be competitive this year.
