LEC Playoffs 2021: MAD Lions Continue Their Reign Over EU
MAD Lions cap off their 2021 Summer as LEC Champions.
In the climax of the 2021 LEC Playoffs fans got a chance to witness MAD Lions cement themselves as the best the European region has to offer. Putting an end to Fnatic’s miracle run was no small task but MAD Lions put on a show to defend their throne. Hopefully, this success will follow them into the World Championships where they’ll be a team on a lot of people’s radar.
MAD Lions showed us why they’re the best, snatching the momentum from Fnatic and running away with it. In their 3-1 victory against Fnatic what seemed like a really close matchup turned out to be a David vs Goliath situation. MAD Lions made it very clear that they were on another level compared to their counterparts, once the team got on a role there was no contest.

We saw some spectacular play from MAD Lions all-around. Humanoid went big, securing one of the best Kill performances of the entire playoffs (12 Kills). Armut and Elyoyla were in top form continuing their excellence that’s been their standard in these playoffs. But who would’ve ever expected that Carzzy and Kaiser would’ve been able to keep up with UpseT and Hylissang who’ve dominated everyone put in front of them.
Following their success in the Spring MAD Lions repeat as the reigning champions of the region. But it’s time for them to test their metal against the rest of the world. At MSI 2021 they went home with a 4th place finish, better than most but not what they’re aiming for. MAD Lions has the potential to sit atop the World as the best team in competitive League of Legends, but they’ll need to tighten up to secure the name.
