Day 7 of the 2016 World Championship group stage is here. Its focus is on the Group of Death. Which teams will survive and advance?

This is undoubtedly the best Worlds ever. Unlike the past few years, upsets have abounded and no one team looks super strong. Perhaps it’s a meta shift or maybe the gap is closing. Either way, we’ve been treated to fantastic games in each day of competition. Day 7 should be similarly fantastic.

Group D, the group of death, has lived up to its namesake. Team SoloMid, Royal Never Give Up and Samsung Galaxy have all shown tremendous form. I would not be surprised to see one or more tiebreakers at the end of the night. Let’s see what we have in store:

Samsung Galaxy vs Team SoloMid: watch score 8/10 (4:00 PM ET)

More from League of Legends Esports

A rematch of a game TSM won handily. Can Samsung find a weakness to exploit on the side of TSM? This match is incredibly key to TSM’s chances: win, and they have a fantastic chance to move on to the quarterfinals.

ROX Tigers top laner Song “Smeb” Kyung-ho said in an interview that TSM top laner Kevin “Hauntzer” Yarnell has really impressed. I expect Samsung to focus on him as Lee “CuVee” Seong-jin is no slouch. The alternate stream will focus on Svenskeren vs Kang “Ambition” Chan-yong in the jungle.

Splyce vs Royal Never Give Up: watch score 4/10 (5:00 PM ET)

There’s not much hope for Splyce in this tournament. After an 0-3 first week, they should focus on improving their own level of play. Take a page from Albus NoX Luna’s book and play comfort champions in a style you’re comfortable with.

The alternate stream focuses on the bot lane matchup which should be won handily by RNG’s duo of Jian “Uzi” Zi-hao and Cho “Mata” Se-hyoung.

Team SoloMid vs Splyce: watch score 5/10 (6:00 PM ET)

North America vs Europe pride is on the line. The Splyce matches are interesting in that their opponents cannot afford to lose them, while Splyce can play free and loose. The alternate stream features the two stars TSM’s Soren “Bjergsen” Bjerg and Splyce’s Chres “Sencux” Laursen.

Samsung Galaxy vs Royal Never Give Up: watch score 9/10 (7:00 PM ET)

Royal has the best schedule, facing Splyce first for what should be a straightforward win. They then get to see Samsung and TSM play before facing them. This should be an explosive matchup.

The alternate stream focuses on Samsung’s vision. This will be interesting as Mata is so good at roaming for vision on the side of RNG. RNG has been the superior warding team so far in Worlds — at least by wards per minute. With teams so even, whoever has more information before fights break out might be the victor.

Splyce vs Samsung Galaxy: watch score 5/10 (8:00 PM ET)

Depending on Samsung’s record heading into this match, it could have big standings implications. Splyce should focus on their solo lanes and try to win early. The alternate stream will indeed focus on the mid lane.

Royal Never Give Up vs Team SoloMid: Watch score 10/10 (9:00 PM ET)

If the last few nights are any indication, this group should come down to the wire. I expect big things from this one, as both squads play with tremendous poise, pride and intelligence. Both

sides might also have been motivated by Peter “Doublelift” Peng vow not to be caught by Mata’s “disrespectful” engages again.

Mata was an utter beast in that game though and it would not be surprising to see Alistar banned from him. But don’t forget: in the first game, the one that was remade, RNG was poking TSM hard with a ranged support. Be careful what you wish for, TSM fans.

The alternate stream is a fantastic jungle matchup, but the main stream should be good in this one as there should be magic all across the rift. This should be the game of the night.
