The most popular game mode, especially in the eSports scene is easily the Summoner’s Rift. This is where all those late-night hours of practicing come into play as it’s 5v5 of nonstop action. It’s the largest map in League and has three lanes into your opponent’s base. Each lane has three turrets, an inhibitor, and a nexus.

Of course, one can’t mention the Summoner’s Rift without talking about the jungle. Many bosses and monsters are scattered all throughout the jungle that can give you and your team some much-needed buffs to turn the tide in battle. Matches in the Summoner’s Rift can last at least an hour or even several hours due to how competitive it can be.

For Summoner’s that enjoy faster-paced matches, the Twisted Treeline is for you. It’s a smaller map that has matches that usually fall in the 30-45 minute range. It’s simply two lanes with two turrets placed on each lane. The nexus in this map is protected by just one nexus turret.

The Twisted Treeline is a great place to start some practice matches against opponents in the 3v3 format. Each champion starts out with more gold than usual and then the bloodbath begins. This is so because this game mode is also fantastic for accumulating a plethora of kills and testing out your champion’s ultimate abilities.

League’s final option for a map is the ever popular Howling Abyss. If you want to talk about an onslaught of action happening at any given moment, this is the place to play in. It’s basically a single-lane map with two bases at opposite ends of the bridge. Each bridge is protected by two turrets, an inhibitor, and two nexus turrets.

It’s 5v5 of randomly selected champions so make sure to have a lot of experience playing with different champions to avoid being left in the dark. Overall, League’s maps are amazing and great for any kind of Summoner that wants to get the most out of this awesome game.
