Breaking down Day 2 of 2017 College Championship Series
Day 1 of the League of Legends 2017 College Championship Series is in the books as Day 2 promises to bring even more exciting matches from the final four.
Whether you watched the League of Legends 2017 College Championship Series on Twitch or via the gaming client, it was an exciting set of matches. Eight teams entered but now, the final four await to determine who will be the remaining two teams ready to win it all.
Yesterday, Carnegie Mellon, Toronto, Maryville, and Robert-Morris-IL all advanced and will continue to represent their colleges in this year’s tournament. Below are all the official results from yesterday:
- Carnegie Mellon defeated Texas A&M, 2-0
- Toronto defeated Simon Fraser, 2-1
- Maryville defeated British Columbia, 2-1
- Robert Morris-IL defeated Maryland, 2-1
The collegiate Esports scene continues to thrive thanks to tournaments like this one. Not only can college students earn valuable scholarships thanks to games like League of Legends, but it continues to show everyone just how hard work, preparation, and skill it takes to be successful.

As of this point in time, over 750 colleges in North America have official clubs specifically for League of Legends with over 200 competing to be a part of the College Championship Series.
Every year, more colleges are entering the fray as it helps promote teamwork, leadership, and guide many into amazing careers within the Esports scene.
For today, you’ll be able to watch these matchups either through LoL Esports or on Twitch all weekend long. The final two teams will square off this upcoming Sunday, May 28th, 2017 to crown new champions in the collegiate circuit.
