Details have emerged on refunds being issued to Summoners of League of Legends that spent IP on runes.

For those of you that have enjoyed playing League of Legends over the years, you’ve undoubtedly spent a lot of IP points on all the different runes depending on the champions and roles you play. In case you didn’t know, big changes are coming this fall to runes which should make a great impact in the Summoner’s Rift.

Of course, when this massive update hits, things will be different as all the previous runes that are in the game will be for the most part removed. The good news is, developers of League of Legends plan to have some kind of system in place to refund IP that was used during a certain time period to ensure that it wasn’t completely wasted.

In an article written by Tanner Dedmon of ComicBook.com, he confirmed that any runes purchased with IP from Tuesday, May 30th, 2017 until a future date that hasn’t been announced yet, Summoners will have all that IP returned. Here is what Riot Cactopus said via Dedmon’s article:

"“This deal is effective now, so if you’ve got the IP for some runes you want, go ahead and grab ’em!” Riot Cactopus wrote. “We’ll refund you later. We were originally going to roll these changes out with our bigger announcement in September, but we wanted to put this out there now since many of you have been asking about rune prices.”"

Keep in mind that rune pages aren’t affected as they’ll transition over to the new system. Another huge announcement is expected to be made sometime in September as this new Runes system will breathe some fresh air into League of Legends.

When this new update drops, Runes will now have a huge impact on gameplay, survivability, and specifically, tailor to all the unique styles of play. If a Summoner enjoys more health to survive team fights or wants to harass enemy champions with prolonged stuns, they’ll have a little bit of everything to have an endless amount of customization when it comes to runes.

Overall, developers are wise to implement such an IP refund to show that it’s all about doing what is right for the community. For those of you that were worried about losing out on IP spent on soon to be outdated runes, things will be right again in just a few months.
