For the second straight year, the Chicago Force have won Super League Gaming’s City Champs League of Legends tournament.

Is there something special in the water of the Windy City? For the second straight season, the Chicago Force have won Super League Gaming’s City Champs tournament. The popular League of Legends tournament expanded in their second year of operation to include 12 teams to compete and have amateur players represent their city with an awesome twist.

All their Esports tournaments are shown in movie theaters on big screens for everyone in attendance to enjoy. They rotate all qualifier matches that take place across popular movie theatres in the United States. It’s a unique idea that works out brilliantly.

Having personally attended one of their events in New York, it truly is a blast to sit in a movie theater with popcorn, soda, and the company of so many fellow League of Legends players. The staff greets everyone with a smile and ensures that they’re in a positive environment ready to compete. Despite the New York Fury losing, it was still a great time regardless.

Fast forward to the City Champ finals, it came down to the Seattle Siege and Chicago Force. Chicago’s name pretty much goes to show how they were a force to reckon with as they defeated them to the final tune of 43-17.

Each team member received a City Champs hoodie, a Triumphant Ryze skin, and 5,800 Riot Points.

They also get a sweet trophy to take home to Chicago and at least until Season 3, brag about how their city produced some of the best players around when it comes to competing in amateur League of Legends tournaments.

What was the secret of the Chicago Force to leave this tournament victorious? Courtesy of Super League Gaming, here is what Chicago Force player Derek Ready had to say about their second straight victory:

"“Throughout the season we’ve grown to understand each other’s gameplay style and help each other improve inside and outside of the league”"

Like the saying goes, practice makes perfect in the grand scheme of things. Congrats to the Chicago Force as many others, including myself, can’t wait to see what Season 3 of Super League Gaming brings to the yearly tournament.
