Patch 9.23 marks the beginning of the end as Summoners across the globe prepare to say goodbye to Season 9. More from League of Legends

It doesn’t seem like that will be changing any time soon as the release of the Patch 9.23 notes revealed that the game will continue in its current lively state through preseason, but with a bunch of interesting changes to Summoner’s Rift, runes, and items.

If you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll have missed the upcoming changes to the map that will blow your mind. Now, depending on which dragon spawns third, the Rift will morph and transform adding/removing terrain or buffs around the jungle. On top of that, side lanes will now have alcoves to encourage fighting, and some brushes have been added to the jungle entrances.

There’s also a crazy amount of experience, item, and rune changes to breakdown too. Here we’ll be inserting changes directly from the patch notes, then briefly analyzing how they could change your average League of Legends game and what they could mean for gameplay going forward.

Earlier in the week, we previewed the upcoming item and rune changes which can be found here in these two articles: Rune changes and Item changes. However, we’ll be breaking down every other change right here.

So, with so much to breakdown, let’s get started:
