The Summer Split returns tomorrow, so we give our first LCS power rankings of the split!

Happy LCS eve everyone! Yes, as we are now one day away from the start of the 2020 Summer Split, so it is time to kick off the action with our preseason LCS power rankings. We’ll rank every team in terms of elo, based on our preseason player ratings, and give our outlook on each team as they all make a push for a spot at Worlds.

10. Immortals

Elo: 322

More from Blog of Legends

I thought Immortals was going to maybe be a surprise team given how they finished the Spring Split just outside a playoff spot. Maybe with a bit more seasoning on mid laner Jérémy “Eika” Valdenaire the team could develop into a dark horse.

Then, the revelation this afternoon that Immortals will be going into Week 1 with a roster that includes two rookies: Joseph “Potluck” Pollock in the jungle and Austin “Gate” Yu. They’re also going back to ADC Johnny “Altec” Ru in their LCS roster.

These roster changes are, to put it bluntly, terrible. There is no way on earth you can convince me that the duo lane of Apollo “Apollo” Price and Nickolas “Hakuho” Surgent was the problem for this team last year. And, although there have been rumors that starting jungler Jake “Xmithie” Puchero is having some behavior issues, he was still one of the better junglers in NA last year.

9. Dignitas

Elo: 363

Dignitas made some interesting moves around their top and jungle, adding Omran “V1per” Shoura to replace Heo “Huni” Seung-hoon, and acquiring Joshua “Dardoch” Hartnett for the jungle position (though Dignitas confirmed last night that Matthew “Akaadian” Higginbotham will be the team’s jungler to start the split). These moves are, in my opinion, sidegrades at best to what they had last split.

Dignitas should be a team playing around their strong mid laner with a stable, scaling ADC. All they need are an enabling, consistent jungler and a strong weak-side top laner. Dardoch and V1per do not fit the bill, so I fear we could see another split of constant roster shuffling that won’t do much good.
