Yone, the 150th champion in League of Legends, is finally about to hit the PBE and all his abilities have been revealed!

Back when Riot started teasing the new, upcoming champion (a “masked stranger who refuses to die”) many were speculating that this would be none other than Yasuo’s brother, Yone. Today, in a sweet cinematic, Riot confirmed that Yone would be the 150th champion in League of Legends and also released all the details of his kit, including his abilities.

If you are a fan of Yasuo, you’re going to love Yone. If you’re an AD Carry main…I’m so sorry because this champion is going to make your life as miserable as his brother. The two champions’ kits are incredibly similar, both incorporating knockups, dashes, and lots and lots of crits.

Check out the ability reveal video below as we break down each of Yone’s abilities.

"Passive – Way of the HunterYone uses two blades, causing every second attack to deal more magic damage. His critical strike chance is also doubled, but his critical strikes deal reduced damage."

Right off the bat, we’re on a bad start. Not only does he gain double crit chance like his brother, but this champion also deals magic damage. Yes, the reduced damage on crits is helpful (please ship that change to his brother as well) but any champion who can do mixed damage is extremely hard to counter.

"Q – Mortal SteelYone thrusts forward, dealing physical damage to opponents. On hit, he gains a stack of Gathering Storm. At two stacks, Yone can dash forward with a wave that makes enemies airborne."

So Riot basically copied Yasuo’s Q – Steel Tempest with the straight-line thrust attack motion. Then, they decided to combine it with Yasuo’s E – Sweeping Blade, giving him a dash.

Luckily for us, you need two stacks of Gathering Storm (the same stacking effect as is on Yasuo’s Q) before you can use the dash so he’s not as mobile as his brother. Additionally, he doesn’t appear to be able to throw the tornado from long range like Yasuo can, so that means he has to get right onto his enemies in order to knock them up with this ability.

"W – Spirit CleaveYone cleaves forward in a massive arc, dealing a portion of the target’s maximum health. After successfully hitting an enemy, Yone also gains a temporary shield. The shield’s power increases per champion struck."

Did you like the old Frozen Fist/Sterak’s Guage bruiser Yasuo? Oh then you’re going to love this.

That’s right, Riot took the AoE sweep from Yasuo’s E – Sweeping Blade and made it a basic ability for Yone. He doesn’t even need two stacks of Gathering Storm to use it. And, the cherry on top, is that he gets a shield for hitting enemies, making his trades almost impossible to lose.

"E – Soul UnboundYone can enter his Spirit Form, gaining movement speed and leaving his body behind. When Yone’s Spirit Form expires, he’ll snap back into his body and deal a percentage of all the damage he dealt while in Spirit Form."

This is like a mutant hybrid of Zed’s R – Deathmark and Illaoi’s E – Test of Spirit. What’s unclear to me is whether you can damage Yone at all while he’s in Spirit Form, whether you need to attack his body, or if damaging his spirit will also damage him. I would suspect that Yone can take damage, but whether opponents need to hit the body or spirit (or maybe they can hit both) is still unclear.

"R – Fate SealedYone strikes all enemies in his path, blinking behind the last enemy hit and knocking everyone airborne towards him."

This is one of the most unique of Yone’s abilities. He dashes in a target direction, blinking behind the last enemy hit and knocking all enemies he passes through towards him.

Now, obviously, this champion will combo very well with his brother (which is a nice touch from Riot) as it also knocks up enemies. It does appear that this ability is also somewhat targeted, so it might be possible for a bad Yone to miss with it. That said, the area of effect is so large I think Yone will be a menace in teamfights.
