The first balance patch of Season 11 has dropped and will go live tomorrow. Patch 11.2 includes the new Ruined and Shan Hai Scroll skins, a nerf to Galeforce’s active that should prevent ADCs from acting like pseudo-assassins, and the release of League of Legends’s newest champion, Viego. If you’re not down to read the entire League of Legends patch notes, here are the biggest changes that are coming.

1. ADC Itemization

Galeforce

"CLOUDBURST COOLDOWN: 60 seconds >>> 90 seconds (applies to Ornn’s Typhoon as well)"

Kraken Slayer

"Kraken Slayer is extremely powerful on champion abilities that churn out on-hits. Those abilities tend to have on-hit modifiers for this exact purpose, so Kraken Slayer will now leverage those modifiers of the following champion abilities:ApheliosSeverum Q – OnslaughtKatarinaR – Death LotusUrgotW – Purge"

Phantom Dancer

"BUILD PATH: Zeal + Dagger + Dagger + 850 gold >>> Zeal + Dagger + Dagger + 950 goldATTACK SPEED: 40% >>> 45%"

Runaan’s Hurricane

"BUILD PATH: Zeal + Dagger + Dagger + 850 gold >>> Zeal + Dagger + Dagger + 950 goldATTACK SPEED: 40% >>> 45%"

The biggest change among these ADC item changes is undoubtedly the nerf to Galeforce. The active is getting an extra 30 seconds on the cooldown, which greatly reduces the utility of the item itself.

There are also cost and attack speed changes to two Zeal items, Runaan’s and Phantom Dancer. For 100 extra gold, players will get 5% additional attack speed. The Zeal item changes are pretty nice, as you’re actually getting 125g worth of attack speed for just an extra 100g (calculations per the LoL Wiki).

The Galeforce nerf is significant, but I still think it will end up being the best Mythic item for ADCs. The extra utility and mobility are still going to make this the default best Mythic, except in rare situations (facing two or more tanks, on-hit builds) where you might want Kraken Slayer.

Plenty of changes can be found in the League of Legends patch notes in Patch 11.2!

2. Tank Mythic Item Changes

Sunfire Aegis

"MYTHIC PASSIVE: 5 ability haste per Legendary item >>> 5% tenacity and slow resist per Legendary item"

Frostfire Gauntlet

"TOTAL COST: 3200 gold >>> 2800 goldBUILD PATH: Bami’s Cinder + Null-Magic Mantle + Chain Vest + 850 gold >>> Bami’s Cinder + Cloth Armor + Null-Magic Mantle + 950 goldABILITY HASTE: 15 >>> 20ARMOR: 50 >>> 25"

Rimeforged Grasp (Ornn Upgrade)

"ARMOR: 65 >>> 40MAGIC RESIST: 35 >> 40ABILITY HASTE: 20 >>> 25"

Turbo Chemtank

"TOTAL COST: 3200 gold >>> 2800 goldBUILD PATH: Bami’s Cinder + Cloth Armor + Negatron Cloak + 900 old >>> Bami’s Cinder + Cloth Armor + Null-Magic Mantle + 950 goldMAGIC RESIST: 50 >>> 25ABILITY HASTE: 15 >>> 20MYTHIC PASSIVE: 5% tenacity and slow resist per Legendary item >>> 5 ability haste per Legendary item"

Turbocharged Hexperiment (Ornn Upgrade)

"MAGIC RESIST: 65 >>> 40ARMOR: 35 >>> 40ABILITY HASTE: 0 >>> 25"

A bunch of changes that basically boil down to Sunfire Aegis and Turbo Chemtank are switching Mythic passives (Sunfire gives tenacity, Chemtank gives Ability Haste). Additionally, both Turbo Chemtank and Frostfire Gauntlet are losing 25 MR while they gain 5 Ability Haste, with their cost going down by 400 gold. 25 MR has a gold value of 450g, while the 5 AH has a gold value of 133.35, so the items are actually getting a bit more efficient with these changes.

3. Self-Healing Champion Nerfs

Aatrox

"E – Umbral Dash[NEW] IT DOESN’T END HERE: Umbral Dash’s self-healing now increases to 26/32/38/44/50% during R – World EnderR – World EnderSELF-HEALING: 50/75/100% >>> 30/45/60%"

Olaf

"W – Vicious StrikesLIFE STEAL: 14/16/18/20/22% >>> 16/18/20/22/24%HEALING AMPLIFICATION: 0-50% (based on missing health) >>> 0-33% (based on missing health."

Both Olaf and Aatrox have been incredibly strong in Season 11, largely thanks to their self-healing being amped up in combination with Goredrinker. As a result, Aatrox is getting a reduction to his base self-healing, but a buff to his healing amplification (when his ult is active). Olaf, on the other hand, is getting a slight buff to his base lifesteal on his W, but a nerf to his healing amplification.

4. Maokai Nerfs

Maokai

"E – Sapling TossCOST: 60/65/70/75/80 mana >>> 60/70/80/90/100 manaDAMAGE RATIO: 1% per 100 AP >>> 0.8% per 100 AP"

Support Maokai has become not only a niche pick in professional play, but also a solo queue terror. By nerfing his mana costs on Sapling Toss, the skill support Maokai tends to max first, it trims back his power level in the role.

5. Mundo Buffs

"Q – Infected CleaverHEALTH REFUND ON HIT: 40% >>> 50%HEALTH REFUND ON KILL: 80% >>> 100%"

"E – MasochismBONUS DAMAGE: 3/3.5/4/4.5/5 of his maximum health >> 4/4.5/5/5.5/6% of his maximum health"

"R – SadismHEALTH REGEN: 50/75/100% maximum health >>> 60/85/110% maximum health"

Even though the Mundo rework is in the works, Riot is still working to let the good doctor go where he pleases. These are actually massive buffs to Mundo, and particularly jungle Mundo. He’s already a sleeper strong pick in the jungle role and with the changes to Sunfire Aegis, I could definitely see Dr. Mundo jumping up the tier list after these changes.
