The first weekend of LCS play comes to a close with five more matches on Sunday. After a day one filled with upsets, can we give any accurate LCS predictions for Week 1, Day 2?

Yesterday’s LCS matches had a lot of very competitive matches along with a bunch of upsets and surprises. We expected Liquid and Clutch to win and weren’t sure if TSM was going to come together, but teams like Flyquest and OpTic surprised me with victories over Golden Guardians and CLG, respectively.  After going two for five on LCS predictions yesterday, today I look for redemption.

In two matches today, 1-0 teams clash, trying for a 2-0 weekend. On the other hand, two of the other matches will feature teams trying to pick up their first win. Here are the LCS predictions for day two of the first week of play.

More from LCS

OpTic (1-0) vs. FlyQuest (1-0)

Kicking things off right with the two surprises of the first day of play. OpTic not only took down CLG, but they also did it after swapping out basically their entire starting roster and playing the academy team plus Crown. And it worked, as the game was won on the back of Asta’s incredible Ezreal play and a couple of clutch plays on Urgot by Allorim.

On the other hand, FlyQuest took down a team that we had our eyes on for having enough talent to potentially break into the top tier of teams in Golden Guardians. Despite the immense talent they were facing, FlyQuest did strong work in their first match, particularly Santorin on Camille and WildTurtle on Ezreal.

When it comes to making a prediction on this match, neither team was particularly clean in their series. Given that CLG also wasn’t playing their whole starting roster – subbing Galen “Moon” Holgate for Wiggly in the jungle – I’d say FlyQuest’s win was more impressive, so I’ll give them the nod here.

Prediction: FlyQuest.

CLG (0-1) vs. Team Liquid (1-0)

Maybe the easiest prediction I’ll make today. Liquid struggled at times yesterday, yes, but they were facing C9, who is largely expected to remain one of the top teams in the LCS.

On the other hand, CLG should have had an easy time facing an unproven roster in OpTic, and largely outclassed. Particularly, Stixxay was terrible on Xayah and sub-jungler Moon did not accomplish much on Sejuani. It was honestly shocking how poorly CLG played, and I can’t imagine it will get much easier facing the best team in the LCS.

Prediction: Team Liquid
