LEC predictions Week 3, Day 2: sorry, Fnatic’s not back
By Josh Tyler
The LEC’s Week 3 concludes on Saturday with another slate of games. That means another slate of LEC predictions for Week 3, Day 2!
The first day of matches featured an upset of exceL over Misfits, Fnatic getting on the board with their first win, and FC Schalke 04 proving my previous predictions right (please skip the prediction of Misfits over exceL that was clearly riddled with typos). Who do we have in our LEC predictions for the matches on Saturday?
G2 Esports (5-0) vs. Splyce (3-2)
G2 has looked nigh unstoppable through the first two and a half weeks of play, and they made short work of SK Gaming on Saturday. Even their perceived weakness, Perkz after his swap from mid to ADC, appears to be a growing strength given his performance on Ezreal.

On the other hand, Splyce played a “show me” match against Schalke on Saturday, with a chance to show that they were deserving of their record by finally facing a competent team. Unfortunately, they showed that they might not be the contenders they fancy themselves. A win against G2 would certainly wipe out that Saturday loss, though it seems unlikely.
Prediction: G2
exceL (2-3) vs. Schalke 04 (4-1)
ExceL made a fool of me on Saturday, played me like a damn fiddle. Their upset over Misfits was a big shock, owed largely to Expect’s godly performance on Urgot. The question becomes now, can they pull the dream weekend and upset another of Europe’s top teams?
It’s a tall task, especially following Schalke’s dismantling of Splyce earlier that day. Yeah Jeskla and kaSing managed to take down Hans Sama and GorillA but, incredibly, beating Upset and IgNar might be a taller task. I don’t think they can replicate the magic, but it will be interesting to see them try.
Prediction: Schalke 04
SK Gaming (2-3) vs. Origen (1-4)
SK has lost three games, yes, but they’ve all come against, arguably, the three best teams in the LEC (Misfits, G2, and Schalke). This will be their first real “show me” series. Origen is certainly not a bad team, given their performance against Vitality on the first day of the weekend, so if SK Gaming can take the win it would solidify their place in the second-tier of LEC teams.
On the other hand, Origen is treading water after their defeat against Vitality. Outside of Nukeduck, almost every single member of the team has underperformed. Losing to SK Gaming and going 0-2 on the weekend would put them in a pit they’d need to climb out of to make a playoff run.
Prediction: SK Gaming
Rogue (0-5) vs. Vitality (4-1)
Hey, exceL managed to beat Misfits, so anything is possible right? I mean, by the sheer measure of probability, yes Rogue has a chance. But in practical terms, this would be a ridiculously big upset.
Prediction: Vitality
Fnatic (1-4) vs. Misfits (3-2)
Fnatic taking down Rogue was not the beginning of a turn-around to their season, let’s just get that straight. The Worlds finalist team struggled to take down the worst team in the LEC, with the teams being within 1k gold of each other for the first 22 minutes.
Misfits just dropped a game they should have won against exceL, so they should be sharp and focused to avoid an embarrassing 0-2 week. In particular, Febiven (who had a very middling game on Irelia) should be looking to feast on Fnatic’s weakest link in rookie mid laner Nemesis.
Prediction: Misfits
