LCS predictions Week 2, Day 2: first win is coming
By Josh Tyler
After a Saturday featuring two undefeated teams falling, and one winless team getting their first victory, does the Sunday slate feature more potential upsets? LCS predictions for Week 2, Day 2 games ahead will reveal!
Yesterday was…not a great day for LCS predictions. Between Clutch and FlyQuest both dropping games that they should have won, there were more than a few games that have shaken up what our expectations should be going into Day 2 of Week 2.
With only one remaining unbeaten team at 3-0 – Liquid – facing off against a faltering Clutch team, and the two 0-3 teams – 100 Thieves and Golden Guardians – facing each other today’s LCS predictions are sure to be spicy. Who do we got?
Golden Guardians (0-3) vs. 100 Thieves (0-3)
Someone’s gotta win, right? Both teams have dropped their first three games after entering the LCS season with expectations that they would be in the top tier of teams, rather than the basement.

For 100 Thieves, the slow start is understandable, given that their first three games were against TSM, Cloud9, and Liquid. For the Guardians, however, they’ve dropped games to middling teams like FlyQuest and Echo Fox (along with the perennially strong C9). In short, the LCS prediction this week is purely based on the fact that while the Thieves have started slow, they are now facing a team that they should truly be expected to beat.
Prediction: 100 Thieves
OpTic (2-1) vs. Echo Fox (1-2)
I don’t think there’s been any team as surprising through three games as OpTic. They won their first game of the season against CLG with basically their entire academy team, then took down previously unbeaten Clutch yesterday with almost their full (expected) starting roster, still missing ADC Arrow due to visa complications.
Echo Fox dropped yesterday’s match with TSM, yes, but they certainly hung around through the early and mid game before TSM’s exceptional macro started to pull them away. Fox certainly has talent on their team, but it has not yet meshed properly, which is why I’m giving OpTic the edge.
