LCS predictions Week 3, Day 1 – battles at the top of the tables
By Josh Tyler
After two weeks of play, the LCS returns with an old grudge match and a battle for first place. Who do we think will win or lose in this round of LCS predictions?
Week 2 of the LCS brought us some separation at the top of the pack (Liquid and FlyQuest) and bottom (Golden Guardians and 100 Thieves), but a lot of middling teams at 2-2. Week 3 approaches with an opportunity for teams to begin to separate themselves from the pack, so we take a look at who will do so in our LCS predictions for the first day of action.
100 Thieves (1-3) vs. Clutch (2-2)
After a 2-0 start on the season with an impressive win over TSM, Clutch going 0-2 in a weekend where they played Liquid wasn’t that unexpected. However, losing a game to OpTic whose lineup is still in flux is not a great showing.

On the other hand, 100 Thieves finally got themselves on the right track by winning their first game of the season against Golden Guardians. Sure, it was a battle of the winless, but getting that first win off their backs after playing the hardest opening schedule of any team in the LCS has to feel good.
Clutch is, statistically, the stronger team. However, given how inconsistent they are and how talent 100 Thieves should be, I’ll call an upset.
Prediction: 100 Thieves
FlyQuest (3-1) vs. Liquid (4-0)
FlyQuest had a wild weekend, dropping the first game of the weekend to CLG before knocking off TSM on Day 2. The stats say that FlyQuest is an above-average team, who have had the good fortune to play a fairly easy schedule.
On the other hand, Liquid has been a straight up dominant team, who have three players ranked as the best at their positions – CoreJJ, Doublelift, and Xmithie. We cannot possibly bet against them, especially given the uneven talent on FlyQuest.
Prediction: Team Liquid
