League of Legends LCS power rankings – Week 5
By Josh Tyler
We’ve passed the halfway point of the LCS Summer Split. Which League of Legends teams have the best shot going into playoffs?
It seems like just yesterday we were sitting in a world where there was a six-way tie at the top of the LCS. Now, that parity has returned somewhat, with three League of Legends teams tied at 7-3 after five weeks of play, with two others just a game behind.

In a week that saw the end of a three-year dominance by TSM over CLG, FlyQuest coming back online, and Team Liquid massively faltering, there was a lot of movement in our power rankings. Which LCS teams sit atop the pack after Week 5.
10. Echo Fox (2-8)
From almost the worst team in the LCS after Week 4, Echo Fox has now cemented themselves in the basement after losing both games last weekend. In particular, their performance in the bout with FlyQuest on Saturday for the bottom spot in the league was quite pitiful. Even subbing out Rush for their newly acquired jungler MikeYeung didn’t stem the tide of their losing, as they went 3-15 in kills versus the previous worst team in LCS.
9. 100 Thieves (3-7)
Well, it was fun while it lasted Thieves fans. After a memorable upset against Cloud9 in Week 4, the Thieves looked poised to perhaps turn their miserable and underwhelming season around. Instead, they got more of the same.
100 Thieves went 0-2 in Week 5, losing to TSM and Team Liquid. Yes, they put up a good showing against the stronger opponent, TL, nearly taking down the reigning Rift Rivals competitors, only to misplay and fall short. Unfortunately, they also got walloped by TSM the day before, who have shown signs of massive inconsistency.
8. FlyQuest (3-7)
Mirroring 100 Thieves’ shocking Week 4 play, FlyQuest had themselves a two-win weekend, taking down Echo Fox and OpTic. The win over OpTic, particularly, showed that maybe FlyQuest still has signs of life to make a push for playoffs. Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem likely, as they would likely need to win at least six of their final eight games to end the year with a .500 record.
7. Clutch Gaming (4-6)
Clutch faced two tough opponents in their Week 5 matches, losing to both Cloud9 and CLG. Those losses put them heavily on the back foot, as they’ll now have to make up ground on Golden Guardians if they want to preserve their fading hopes at making the LCS playoffs.
6. Golden Guardians (5-5)
The team Clutch will be chasing, the Golden Guardians, had themselves a tough weekend. They lost to OpTic on Saturday, ending their first round through the LCS order with a losing record. A win on Sunday brought them back to even, but they did so beating up on one of the weakest teams in the league, Echo Fox.
